Eva Vittoria + tommy mcconnel
mention of death | complete
Tommy didn’t believe it, yeah right, someone from home here? That didn’t seem to be the way Atlantis worked, they seemed to have a thing for Marvel and anything that had to do with space, a bunch of detectives from Europe? Ha.
Still, if Eva was here he’d have to go, well, talk to her. It wasn’t that Tommy didn’t want to talk to her, it was that it was just weird. Regardless, he ignored her post on the network and instead when to go find her. It didn’t take long, and when he did he leaned against the wall crossing his arms.
“So it’s true, you really are in Atlantis,” he spoke with a smirk.
The hologram had made a comment about Tommy being around this place, but Eva didn’t believe that. This place managed to grab Tommy? That was a hard one to believe though he’d want to help, which if it had managed to grab him, then she knew he’d find her without her having to do the work.
Eva’s back had been to him; however, she knew the voice and a smirk showed up on her face. “No, I’m a…,” she almost said ghost, catching herself at the horrible choice of words, “a figment of your imagination.” The hologram said something about people from different points in time. Eva had no idea how that worked, but she had no idea what Tommy knew. She knew she was pretty much dead, but did he? Turning to face him, a smirk upon her face, resting her hands on her hips.
“This place probably couldn’t handle you anymore, and needed a little backup,” she teased.
"You look a little bit too real for that," Tommy shrugged keeping his face neutral, not showing any emotion at all. Tommy had been in Atlantis long enough to notice how people came from different points in time. He wasn't going to give away anything he knew of the world.
"You think so?" He asked raising an eyebrow. "And they didn't send Sebastian?"
Eva wasn’t at all surprised by the neutral face considering it was how Tommy tended to be most of the time. If he had been trying to hug her or anything else, she’d be wondering where the real Tommy was. “People do say sometimes what their imagination created for them seemed very real to them,” she pointed out, looking him over. He seemed to be all in one piece with nothing wrong with him from what she could see, which was a big plus in her book. “How long have you been here? I know I talked to you on the phone a few hours ago, but from the sounds of this place that doesn’t really matter much.”
Rolling her eyes with a tiny shake of her head, “I think this place figured the bad jokes would only end up annoying you. You got lucky in being stuck with me. You know you can come in and make yourself comfortable, I don’t bite.” She replied with a small shrug of her shoulders.
Shrugging, he dismissed anything about whatever she was going on about with imagination, wasn't his thing. "Few months," he answered. "Time doesn't work the same way, here and other places, guess you already got that speech." Tommy knew it could be confusing but hey, that was just what it was.
"I don't know," he said scratching the back of his neck. "Sebastian had a few good ones here and there." He wasn't actually serious about that one, but he wouldn't have minded having Sebastian show up too.
Even with knowing time didn’t work the same here as back home, a confused look slipped over her face for a brief moment. No matter how many times it was said, the whole concept was an odd one for Eva, especially since she had talked to Tommy a few hours before. “Got the speech, still find it strange, but nothing to do about it. How have you been enjoying it?”
Eva noticed the way he was acting, and after spending many hours with him from work, she knew something was going on with him. Her gut was telling her he knew what happened to her, which would make anyone a little weird, especially with a dead person showing up. Though his comment about Sebastian brought a small laugh. “I’m so telling him that if he ever shows up here how you miss his jokes,” she told him, knowing he wasn’t being serious, but she could still make the threat. As much as the small jokes made her feel better, Eva knew she couldn’t avoid the topic on her mind even if she wanted to. The fact she’d never get to tell him in person made her needing to say it now. “Tommy, I want to apologize for calling you and putting you in a difficult situation. If I had known about the case, I never would have called.” Eva couldn’t put anyone she cared about in danger and if Tommy had come to help her, then she’d have been doing just that.
"And I'll make sure to tell him the same about you," he warned. He did truly miss the bloke, but his jokes still could have used some help.
"You did the right thing," he shrugged hating this kind of topic of conversation. "Sorry I couldn't make it there," being shot in the head had set him back on being actually useful. He also realised that she had no idea what happened to the Major and really wasn't ready to talk about that one either. "We all would have been there if we'd been able too." That was also very true.
“He’ll never believe it,” Eva knew he’d throw her under the bus if she threw him under with the jokes. The jokes were bad, but she did love Sebastian like family, knowing she’d be happy if he showed up here.
Noticing the way he was reacting to the conversation had her tilt her head slightly to the side. He really was the worse when it came to topics he wanted to avoid. “Don’t be sorry. It was my issue to deal with, not the team,” and it was the truth. The man was probably her father, not theirs. She was the one who stayed behind for a date, not them. Everything that happened was her choice, and she didn’t need any of them, especially Tommy since he was the one she called to think they could have stopped it. A smile came over her lips, “Yeah, I know you all would have. Sebastian helped enough with what I needed. Did you guys catch the criminals for the case you were working?”
"We're a team, if one of us has an issue, we all do." Tommy hadn't been as good with that part of things at first, but he had learned to be.
"Sort of, it's complicated." Tommy didn't really want to talk about all that. "Come on, let's go get a drink." That was a lot easier to talk about. "There are a lot of things you need to know about Atlantis."
A smile appeared on her lips at the statement, fighting the urge to make some corny little remark, which was harder than she wanted to admit, but she managed. Though Eva knew he was right cause if any of them had been in trouble, she’d have done anything to help them, but she was glad none of them came. She’d have never been able to live with herself if anything happened to them because of her personal drama.
“I’d ask complicated how, but you can tell me when feeling like it,” she told him, letting it go for the time being. Eva knew she’d want the story at some point, knowing he wasn’t telling her something, but right now she was fine with not having it on her mind. “Now a drink is sounding right up my alley. Could also use some food since I haven’t really had some decent food since my date,” the picking at things while on a stakeout wasn’t really being counted as food. Grabbing her jacket off the bed, she walked over to him, pushing him slightly out the door. “Alright, I know about the timeline thing, about the whole fight, about how we can decide to stay or go, and I think that’s about it. What else should I know about this place?”
Nodding he figured food was never a bad plan and there were millions of options to go with around these parts so he wasn’t worried on that front.
“Let’s get a drink first and we can talk about all of it,” Tommy offered as he let her push him out the door.
