TOM'S SEEING HIS FATHER'S GHOST LOWISH. MENTIONS OF WEREWOLVES, VAMPIRES ETC OPEN |
Tom hadn't noticed him at first, when he was just a flash in the corner of his eye. Wishful thinking was all he took it for. So, he'd gotten ready as usual, before heading downstairs to his office. He couldn't help but think that his dad would be proud of him, for being made a manager. Hal too. Well, his Hal. Not the bad version he seemed to be stuck with. Still, it wasn't until he was sat at his desk, and turning his computer on that he really truly saw him. McNair. His dad. And, he could barely believe it. Oh, people had told him that the dead could turn up here. But, he couldn't believe it was actually true until right this second. "Dad?" Tom asked the figure in front of him, with a smile. "When did you get here?" "It's me Tom." The spectre replied, without returning the smile. "Were you expecting someone else? That vampire, maybe." Confused at his dad's clear disapproval, Tom frowned. "What, Hal?" "He's an Old One, Tom. How is he still alive after everything I taught you?" "He's my friend, Dad." Or at least, he was sometimes. But, Tom wasn't going to go into that, now. "And, it's more complicated than that." "He started the dog fights, you know? He's the reason I was even a werewolf in the first place. Your parents would still be alive if he'd never existed. Do you still think he deserves to live after everything he's responsible for." "It's more complicated than that, Dad." "No. It's not. He's a vampire. And what did I teach you to do to vampires?" "Stake 'em." Tom mumbled. "I didn't quite here that, Tom." "You stake 'em, Dad." Tom said a bit louder, before moving around his desk. "But, Dad. He's different. If you just let me explain..." He trailed off, as he reached out to grab his Dad's arm and found nothing there. ..."are you a ghost? Werewolves can't be ghosts." Tom backed away slightly. "Who the hell are you?" |
