“Thought you could get rid of me that easily, Coburn?” The voice of Julian Masters only made Cara tense up, ignoring the man off to the side. Since waking up this morning, he had been around taunting her, which resulted in her quickly checking into Keller’s mind to make sure she was safe. With no notice and not being able to sense anything around Julian, he wasn’t an actual threat to this place. Though Cara still had to make sure the one in her care was safe. Seeing she was fine, Cara could now focus on the psychopath in right of her. Most of the morning had been spent teleporting around the area, staying only until Julian showed up, then she’d teleport again.
Only now her teleporting needed to charge back up, and he was already here to annoy her in the gym. “You really are pathetic and weak,” great, we were starting that speech already. “All these worthless humans around for the picking and you choose to what? Let them walk around without knowing to fear you. You could have these people knowing you’re better than them. If I was here….,” he trailed off, smirking at the idea of how many people he could hurt, the pleasure he got from the pain their kind got when they pushed the barrier of harming another individual. Cara ignored him, knowing it would annoy him more than saying anything and feeding into what he wanted, a reaction from her. No matter how people saw her kind, Cara wanted to co-exist with humans, not have them fear her or harm them. Instead of firing back a comment, Cara closed her eyes while sitting on the gym floor, trying to relax her mind. Groaning he moved to stand closer to her, catching on to what she was doing. “Ultra should have ended you a long time ago. Better yet, I should have finished choking the life out of you until I had to stop.” Why did this place need to bring him? Glaring at him, Cara moved to a standing position very quickly. “Last time I checked I killed you, not the other way around. Every time you came after me, you lost.” Cara knew the risk with that comment and like she expected his hand shot up causing her to tense up, and wait for the feeling of being chocked only to find he couldn't do his normal tricks. Cara noticed the anger coming over him, thankful he couldn’t take it out on others around here. “How’s Charlotte by the way? Did she get the needle? Or better yet has John gotten the needle yet?” A flash of anger ran through her, fighting the urge to do something stupid. Her silence though didn’t stop Julian from guessing and pushing the buttons. “I’ll take your silence as a yes. Finally got to see you for who you really are, huh? A weak spineless individual who will never be able to protect them.” It wasn’t until that smirk he sent her way at the comment that Cara lost her cool, moving right into his face without a care as to how this might look to anyone who came in. “Funny considering I never threw someone who trusted me to an Ultra agent to save my own ass. I’d say you should have used your brain, but I guess you need one to use it. So if I’m weak and spineless, what does that make you?” Cara asked before turning to walk away, heading for the exit of this place. “Don’t walk away from me, street rat!” He yelled at Cara, anger showing quite well in his voice, but she ignored his command. Walking through the doors, she kept walking until outside the base. Taking in the fresh air, Cara ran her fingers through her dark hair, trying to get control of her anger before Julian showed back up and tried to push her buttons some more. |
