“Come on, buddy, we’re going to see Rey,” Poe said to BB-8, who beeped happily and ran to the door. “Yes, yes, I’m coming!” Poe put on his shoes and followed his droid outside. BB8 rushed outside the tower, which made Poe chase after him. “Someone’s excited.” Poe had been confused as hell when he first got there a few hours ago, but he was glad he had found out Rey was there. And General Organa, Han and Luke, even if they weren’t from the same time as he and Rey were. At least he wasn’t alone with BB8. It was hard enough to learn he wouldn’t be flying any X-Wings around -- unless he found out who had that one X-Wing that was in Atlantis and that given someone let him fly it -- so it was nice to know he at least had his friends there. He got to Tower 3 with BB8 next to him and headed in. BB8 rushed before him and went straight to Rey’s apartment, making Poe chase after him again. “Slow down, BB8!” But the droid seemed way too excited to do so, beeping loudly at Rey’s door when they reached it. Rey had left the door open as she’d promised and as soon as she heard the beeping, she hurried over and knelt down to catch BB8 as he barreled into her. “Hi there!” she said. “I’m glad to see you too. At least I guess that’s what you’re trying to tell me. Come in,” Standing up, she smiled at Poe. “and I’m glad to see you too,” she said and stepped around the little droid so she could give her friend a hug. “Stars, it’s good to see a familiar face who actually looks the way they did the last time I saw them.” Poe shook his head and chuckled when BB8 almost ran into Rey to greet her “Relax, BB8, she’s not going anywhere and neither are we,” he said to the droid before he stepped into Rey’s apartment. “It’s good to see you too, Rey,” He smiled as he hugged her tightly, laughing a little with her comment. “It’s going to be weird seeing General Organa as someone around our ages... But, how have you been?” “That will be really strange for you, I’m sure since you’ve known her longer than I have,” she moved out of his arms and closed the door, waving for him to take a seat. “Would you like something to drink? For the moment I don’t have a roommate so we’ve got the place to ourselves. I have about ten different kinds of flavored water and some beer.” Rey had been fascinated by the fact that water came in flavors here. She’d always been happy to just have water at all but it came in flavors. That was one of her favorite things about this place. “Very strange,” he said with a nod. He walked more into the apartment and let BB8 do his own thing. “Flavored water?” He said in surprise. “I have to try that.” How could water come in different flavors? Water was just water.. But hey, if this place managed to get that, he sure was going to try every single flavor. Rey grabbed a couple of bottles and brought them over to the couch, passing one to Poe. “This one is black cherry,” she said. “It’s my favorite. You wouldn’t believe the variety of things they have here to eat and drink! It’s incredible!” She had had to fight for food her whole life and what there was of it was usually the same thing all the time. Having choices was entirely new for her and it still surprised her. He grabbed one of the bottles and immediately took a swig of it, taking a moment to taste the black cherry in the water. “This is fantastic!” He laughed. “You’ll have to show me your favorite places to eat and your favorite foods here,” he said. Poe had never been too passionate about food, but food had been quite plain where he came from. But now that he had flavored water and starts know what else, he was definitely going to enjoy it. “So tell me about this place? I’ve been assigned to be an aircraft engineer and I know there’s some sort of battle to protect creativity or something like that, but other than that I don’t really know much about this place.” He said as he drank more of his water. “There is a group called the COS and they want to take all creativity out of the world,” she began, taking a sip of her own water and curling up in a corner of the couch. “I don’t know all the details since I don’t actually go on missions and what not but there are some tools that enable the world to enjoy arts, music, creative things and that’s what they’re after. When people go on missions, they go to some very different kinds of places, sometimes they’re places from books and movies and television. I’ve been here for a few months according to their calendar and I haven’t know any of the worlds they’ve been to.” she tilted her head in the direction of the TV. “That’s a television. It’s kind of like a holoprojectior, you can watch movies and things on it. There’s also a library that has literally everything you could ever want to read or watch in it. It’s all a bit overwhelming at first.” Poe nodded and listened carefully as she explained what she knew about Atlantis. He made a mental note to ask about this COS group to his coworkers. Maybe they’d know more. Poe liked to know who he was fighting against. His head turned to the big rectangular black screen on the wall and nodded lightly. “A television, uh? Interesting.” He’d seen it in his room but he hadn’t paid too much attention to it to be honest. He’d have to check it out once he went back to his room. “I definitely feel overwhelmed,” he admitted with a chuckle, drinking some water. “I understand. I felt the same way. It’s a lot to be hit with all at once,” she said. “It gets easier, I promise. If you want to go lie down for a while, that might help, we can go have dinner later if you want?” |
