Elle + Alicia Spinnet
Mention of death + violence | complete
Elle was finally starting to find her way around this city after being in it for a few days. The healers had managed to patch her up even with their ridiculous methods that were so unusual to her. She’d caught up a bit with Emilia and had sparingly seen Leo and Rocco. They were all so worried about their precious Alicia, but Elle was having trouble figuring out if she was glad she was gone and going through God knows what or if she was disappointed not to be able to see her face-to-face for some sisterly bonding time of their own. The last person’s face she remembered seeing before being pulled here was Alicia’s, and it had all come together. Elle just knew that she’d been the one to tip off the aurors, and in that moment she’d wished her sister dead.
Some of what she was doing might have been considered casing and scouting. She wasn’t stupid enough to try anything without a plan or getting more information about this place, but old habits were hard to quit. Her mind naturally went in that direction from time to time.
She received a notice down at the command center offices to come down for a meeting, so she finished up what she was doing and started that way. They wouldn’t say directly what this was about but just that there was something she needed to meet with soon. It was shortly before lunch, and Elle figured she could stop on the way back to Emilia’s and sweet talk her sister in cooking up something tasty for them to eat.
Walking through the building, Elle pushed the button to the elevator. When the doors dinged open, her eyes lifted and then immediately widened in surprise when she saw who was coming out of it.
“Back safe and sound are you, Alicia?”
Everything still hurt, more than that, Alicia felt broken. She barely remembered how they got out. She remembered kicking someone and getting into a fight with someone. She'd managed to use some wandless magic but not nearly enough. She could have done better, all of that was running through her mind. She'd heard about her boyfriend's wife being here and wasn't really sure how to handle that, much less her older sister who hated her.
She wasn't really supposed to be leaving the building, but Alicia needed air, medically wise she'd be just fine. There'd been something about the whip that made healing magic not work as well as it usually would, so her arm was in a sling and there were bruises all over her body still, among other cuts and scrapes. The last thing Alicia wanted to do as she headed to get some air was see Elle Spinnet looking back at her as the elevator doors opened.
"Some of us know how to stay in one piece," she shot back. "What the hell are you doing here?"
“No thanks to you,” Elle said and simply raised a brow as she studied her sister. There were visible cuts and bruises on her face, her arm was still on the mend, and she was sure that there were likely other physical marks underneath her clothing. She was wavering between smug satisfaction and anger that it had happened at all, but Elle was hardly going to analyze the latter.
“As for why I’m here, I haven’t a clue. Last I remember is staring at you, knowing you were the one responsible for the ambush and then showing up here in their medical ward. Only to find out that you were missing. Interesting timing, isn’t it?” She gave her sister a small smirk. “What’s that called again? Oh, I know. I think some call it karma.”
"You bitch," Alicia snapped stepping out of the elevator to let it go on it's way to get other people.
"You put yourself in that situation, all I did was make sure you couldn't hurt Emilia or anyone else, what happened to you is karma, what happened to me is about fighting for a greater good." It was such a cheesy line, and Alicia knew it, she winced at the way it probably sounded but didn't verbally express it. "What happened to you was your own fault."
Elle made a tsk tsk sound with her tongue and shook her head with mock disapproval. “I put myself in the situation? The greater good? Wow, you really are as sanctimonious as the last time I saw you. I don’t think I ever recall owling the Ministry to let them know where I’d be. Our little sister would have been just fine. I think you’re the one who could have possibly put her in the line of fire. Did you ever stop to think about that? If she or someone else had been caught in the crossfire? Lucky for you then, I guess, since it was just me.”
She flipped part of her hair back over her shoulder. “As for what happened being on me? Sweetie, that was all you. What happened - or happens - to me was on your hands the moment you alerted the Aurors.”
The sound made Alicia wince, something about it just hit her hard. Alicia looked down shutting her eyes trying to figure out if she was still being tortured or not. “You selfish bitch.” Alicia finally said after a while, she hadn’t spoken for about a minute.
Looking up to the ceiling tears were in her eyes before she looked back at Elle. “It doesn’t matter what you say, or what I say. You’re always going to put yourself first. Otherwise you wouldn’t have constantly stolen from everyone, maybe Callie would have actually had a mother that cared about her.”
The tears actually managed to surprise Elle, and her face showed it briefly. Being called a selfish bitch didn't bother her; it wasn't the first time she been called one and was sure it wouldn't be the last. She and Alicia made no secret to one another that they didn't care for the other, but it had been a long time since she'd ever seen her sister cry.
Any sympathy or regret she had for her words passed almost immediately, though, the second Alicia bit back with mention of her daughter. Elle stepped forward so that she was inches away from Alicia and pointed her finger close to her face.
“Say my daughter's name to me again, and you will wish you never came back from wherever the hell you were these last few days. I hope you're satisfied with yourself having to live with the fact that you helped take her mother away from her forever.”
Alicia swallowed but didn’t flinch or move when Elle stepped towards her. "You lost your daughter over some stupid heist that was more important than being there for her, so don't you dare try and blame me for choices you made."
Alicia stepped half an inch closer towards her sister. "Go ahead." Alicia narrowed her eyes. "I couldn't fight back there. Things are a little different here." She said tilting her head to the fact that she wasn't tied up, she wasn't being tortured, and she had full use of her arms, legs, and magic.
“You think you know me so well,” Elle said, not backing away. “That you know precisely why I made my own choices the way I did. You know nothing, and it looks like you never will.”
As intense as the conversation had gotten, Elle hadn’t noticed that they’d been drawing some looks from a handful of people. She took a small step back, softening her glare for the sake of the onlookers, but there were still daggers shooting out of her eyes at her sister.
“Well, sis,” she said and gave her a bit of a smack on the shoulder. Any other time and with any other person, this probably would have been a simple good-natured tap, but Elle purposely targeted Alicia’s arm that was in the sling. “I’m off to meet our younger sister for lunch. I’m sure she’d love to have you join us,” she said, her voice now sugary sweet.
Alicia didn’t mind the attention they were getting. She sort of hoped Elle would do something stupid but knew the likelihood of that was slim to none. She thought about mentioning how little Elle really knew but didn’t because Elle was speaking again.
When she hit her shoulder Alicia visibly winced as pain shot through her. She knew Elle had done it on purpose. “Still play dirty huh?” She breathed out knowing McCoy was going to threaten her when she got back and saw what the smack had done. “Probably should go make sure you didn’t fuck up my stitches,” Alicia made a mental note to send a message to Rocco and Leo to go find them. As much as Alicia wanted to go, she knew she physically didn’t have it in her right that moment.
“Yes, you really ought to get that looked at,” Elle said with mock concern. “I wouldn’t want you to accidentally hurt yourself next time you find yourself in a fight.” She was sure she would see Alicia around again, probably fairly soon.
Starting to leave, she turned her head just before reaching the door. “Be seeing you.” With a quick turn of her head, she was out the door.
Alicia watched Elle leave still not showing a hint of how much pain she was in. All she'd wanted was some air, and she didn't even make it outside. Instead, she turned back to the elevator getting in and kicking the door after it shut opening up some of the stitches on her leg. McCoy was going to kill her.
