Rey opened her eyes and saw a blank wall in front of her. There was nothing there to give her any indication where she was or how long she'd been here. She looked down at herself and saw that she was tied to a chair and no matter how hard she tried to move, she couldn't. The chair must be attached to the floor because no amount of squirming would budge it. She heard a voice from off to her left and then a scream and her blood ran cold. Wherever they were, someone was in pain, someone was being hurt but she couldn't see who it was, the bindings wouldn't let her lean forward. There was someone on either side of her and she could see them out of the corners of her eyes but their names wouldn't come to her. It had happened so fast that she hadn't had time to react. She hadn't sensed them in the Force, all she remembered was a shart pain in the side of her neck and then she woke up here. Was it the same day? The next day? A week from now? Rey took a deep breath and called out "Hello! Where are we?" but she hadn't been able to finish the sentence before a stab of electricity shot through her body. She didn't scream, she'd endured this before but when it stopped, she was shaking. It was much like what she'd gone through on the Finalizer and she prayed that what had happened to her next wasn't about to happen here. That had been worse than any shock or pain that could be dealt out. Someone literally entering your mind and trying to take your very self from you. Please oh please don't let that happen again, she thought. She'd used the Force without thinking then and pushed Kylo Ren away but this felt different. She couldn't feel anyone in the Force, not even the others who were here with her. That scared her more than anything. While she still didn't understand the Force and what it was, what it could do, why it was a part of her, she'd come to accept it as part of her life and she was learning how to use it, to control it instead of just having it flare up when something was going wrong. Luke was teaching her that and suddenly she knew what to do. Maybe there was a reason that she couldn't sense anything inside but that didn't mean she couldn't send a message out. She wasn't hopeful though but she knew she had to try so she closed her eyes and centered herself, tried to imagine a quiet place, a place that was safe and peaceful. With the voices of the others arond her crying out, it wasn't easy but she managed to do it. Once she was in her safe place she thought Luke? Can you hear me?. She waited for an answer but none came. She tried again even though she knew it was pointless. She couldn't move, she couldn't speak without being shocked and the only other tool she had was denied her as well. There was nothing to do but wait. Wait for whatever came next. Whoever came next. She promised herself one thing though. They would not see her cry, they would not see her shake in fear and when she was free, she'd make them pay. |
