log; rey & tahiri
Most of the time when Tahiri Veila thought about sand, she didn't think about anything that she really enjoyed spending time in. Sand was Tatooine, and while Tahiri didn't hate her home planet by any stretch of the imagination, she also knew the galaxy was a lot larger than Tatooine and a lot more varied, and so far as she was concerned, not having sand everywhere was typically a plus.
All of that said, she was enjoying walking the shoreline on Atlantis. The mixture of sand and water was completely different from Tatooine. The way the sand felt where the water had just been, was also completely different, and it all felt delightful on her toes. She still hated wearing shoes, even in Atlantis, and did so only if it was absolutely required - she kept a pair of sandals in her bag for precisely such an occasion - but this felt like a massage for her toes, and it was amazing. She squinted against the sun as she came up on another woman, and it occurred to her that she was pretty certain she knew her from some of the training she'd been doing with Luke. Not knew her, knew her - but she did recognize her. She raised a hand in greeting, and waved. Rey loved walking along the beach. It was peaceful and beautiful and with everything that she had whirling around in her mind, she needed some time where all she had to do was walk and enjoy the view. Being possessed by a princess she’d never heard of from a story she’d never heard of had been weird enough but then there had been the whole kissing Luke thing and all in all, she was happy to be on the beach. When she spotted Tahiri, she raised her hand in return and smiled. While they spent a good deal of time together lately along with Ezra, she hadn’t talked to either of them very much as she headed straight to work when they were done and lately she’d been avoiding being around Luke as much as possible. “Hi,” she said in greeting. “It’s a lovely day, isn’t it?” Tahiri beamed brightly at Rey and nodded. "It's gorgeous," she enthusiastically exclaimed as she took in the entirety of the water, the sun, and the sand around them. "I think this is definitely a much better way to have this much sand than my homeworld," she laughed, even as she dug the toes of her right foot further into the sand underneath them. "How have you been?" Now that was a loaded question but she couldn’t imagine that Tahiri hadn’t noticed her acting strangely during the whole Princess thing. “Well I was one of the lucky ones who got to be a princess before the ball. If I acted strangely during training, that was why. Thankfully it didn’t last too long.” She wasn’t going to say anything about Luke being affected as well since that would just remind her of things she didn’t want to think about so she’d keep it simple. “But I’m fine now.” Tahiri tried not to smile too much at this. She really shouldn't smile at all. As best she could tell these strange things happened here in Atlantis and there was no real rhyme nor reason as to why. It could very well be her next, was the important piece that she ought to remember, plus also empathy. "Yeah, I noticed things were a little strange there," Tahiri said sympathetically. "This place is really the strangest, but I'm glad you're back to normal. Were you just beach walking today?" Rey shook her head. “I was hoping it wasn’t that noticeable but I should have known better. It certainly felt different enough. It’s very good to be myself again, I can tell you that.” she smiled. “Yes, I like coming out here and just enjoying the peace and quiet sometimes. It’s almost easier for me to meditate here than in complete silence. There’s something soothing about the sound of the waves.” "It wasn't so much specifically you," Tahiri rushed to hope that she would feel better about it. "But more that others were talking about the fact that people had changes to personality and things. It's just very like this place isn't it? But I'm glad that you are yourself again. There's nothing more irritating than feeling as if it is messing with you." She turned her head to glance out at the water. It did feel that way, a bit. The waves rushing into the shore, and it was easy to feel the life of it, the balance of the Force when one was standing here at the edge of land and sea. It wasn't unlike the way the Jungles of Yavin IV had felt at times. "Maybe we should do it together sometimes," she suggested. " I really enjoy it here. It's so much water - and it's so different from home." “I knew other people were affected,” she said. “And yes, you never know what to expect here. Which is sometimes good but also very surprising.” Rey smiled at Tahiri’s suggestion. “I’d like that. I enjoy having company. I spent a lot of years by myself so having someone to enjoy this with would be nice.” Tahiri nodded. It was a bit disconcerting at times to not know if she should expect something strange to happen to her. So far nothing too terribly strange had happened - but that didn't mean that it wasn't going to do so in the future. "My best friend isn't here to do things with," Tahiri admitted. And while Rey was older than her they were both learning, like the other students at the Jedi Temple that Tahiri was used to doing things with. "So I'd like that too. Let's do it." “Good. That sounds like a plan then,” Rey said. “I’ve made a few friends but there isn’t anyone from home here, not from my timeline anyway.” She kept hoping that someone would show up but so far no one had. Tahiri beamed at Rey, and waved lightly. "It's a good plan. I'll see you later, Rey." |
