New Friend! Low Complete |
Davina had some things she wanted to do that afternoon, pick up a few things for dinner, try and find something for Kol and just general things she did on her day off. She wasn’t completely sure what Kol was up to, but she hoped he wasn’t getting into trouble wherever he happened to be. While at Footsteps was the first time she saw some guy she was pretty sure she’d seen when she’d been leaving the housing complex earlier. Davina shrugged it off, it wasn’t like she was the only person who picked up bread or a coffee from the bakery. She caught sight of him again at The Market, again telling herself it wasn’t that weird. Stopping outside of Blue City Threads, she said hi to someone and saw the same guy again. Davina knew he was one of the field agents but she didn’t know much else about him. It wasn’t until she saw him at Spin In and Out that she started to wonder if he was following her. She’d been about to say something but he was gone, sighing she let it go. Davina made her way to Clove Books to find something for Kol, as she picked out the book she was looking for she rounded the corner nearly running into the same guy again. “Are you following me?” She asked as she heard the same exact words come out of his mouth. "What? No!" Jacen's defense was immediate, even as he knew he'd asked her the same question. He'd been out, trying to pick up some shopping for Tenel Ka so that she wouldn't have to think about it later. Bread for dinner, a new sweater for Allana, and then he'd been thinking that he'd go explore the bookstore mostly for himself before he headed back to the apartment. The woman wasn't someone he really knew, other than he thought he'd seen her around Atlantis occasionally before, but he'd seen her more than 'around Atlantis' today: Today she'd been every place he had been, and that was a strange coincidence. Still, as he defended himself, he didn't really sense anything in the Force that would speak to ill-will wished. And while Jacen could occasionally be paranoid, there was still a thread of curiosity that ran deep, and these months at Atlantis had strengthened it, and lessened his overall paranoia towards strangers. "Alright, I admit that you already have the book that you wish in your hand, indicating that you have been here for some time, while I am just arriving to look for the book that I want. So it might look as if I am following you, but that isn't specifically my intention." “So, what, we just happen to end up in the same exact place today? That seems a little far fetched,” Davina knew with magic that it wasn’t and she knew with Atlantis that pretty much anything was possible but that didn’t mean she liked the idea of it. “You’re on one of the teams aren’t you?” She asked changing her tactic into trying to figure out why Atlantis might have made it possible for them to be everywhere at the same time. Jacen didn't typically believe in coincidence, although he couldn't see any reason why the Force would have brought him and this woman together in this way on this day. It seemed absurd that anything quite so grand would be behind their similar pathways through the city. Still… "I don't know that it was that we just happened to," he shrugged lightly. "But I don't believe it was any intention on my end, unless it was on yours. But perhaps there is something else at work here, I am on one of the teams yes, Team 2. Are you on one of them?" Perhaps that was where he had seen her before. “It’s not usually in my nature to accuse someone of following me when I was the one behind it, so, no, nothing on my end.” Davina answered crossing her arms with the book she picked out caught between her body and her arms. “No, I’m a magic specialist, so sometimes get called up to go on missions, but that’s been awhile.” She shrugged. “I’m Davina.” "Ah, right, Jacen," he shook his head realizing he'd not offered an introduction. Really the entire situation was setting him off guard. "I do recognize you a bit, but I think we haven't worked together before." He glanced at the shelves and tilted his head. "We have seemed to hit all of the same places today. Out of curiosity where were you planning to go next?" “Probably just around the base kind of stuff,” Davina offered, it was likely they’d walked past each other at some point, Atlantis was big but it wasn’t totally insane either. “Uh, home, actually, you?” Davina asked if he was going to say the same thing she was going to laugh. "Probably," Jacen decided. It wasn't the most unlikely situation at all. But at her response he had to grin, a lop-sided, characteristically Solo grin. "I have finished my errands for the day, or will have done after I look around here, so I was planning on going back and looking into helping with the next meal of the day for Allana. If you tell me home is Tower Two then I'm going to throw up my hands and give up." Davina laughed shaking her head. "I guess this is where the running into each other ends, I'm in tower one with my fiancé." She said with a smile. "Well, don't let me hold you up on finishing what you were here to do, sorry for accusing you of following me too." Jacen breathed an audible, possibly slightly dramatized sigh of relief. "Well there we are, we're not following each other to the ends of the galaxy or whatever," he grinned. "It was nice to meet you, Davina, although if I see you the next time I'm running errands, I'm going to keep my eyes on you," he teased gently. "I'll let you get going then." “And I’ll keep my eye on you,” she teased back shaking her laughing slightly as she headed out of the bookstore. |
