A kid. She had a kid. With Barry. For a horrible insane second she had wondered who he had slept with. Her or Frost. The thought and the memory dump while she had slept had brought out that very same frostier half and she had woken up with a headache, horrified to find out the things Frost had said. Said and done. Getting her kid drunk brought back all those feelings about them liking Frost more than her. Which is why she'd found herself outside Barry’s apartment. She shook her head and walked away down the hall, and back, and away. And back. This was ridiculous. This was Barry. She was an idiot. Of course he didn’t prefer Little Miss Worked With Savitar. She just needed to hear him say it. “Caitlin?” Barry looked at her in confusion when he pulled open his door to find her pacing. Going out for some takeout had been the plan since he knew Kara would be home soon, but those plans were temporarily forgotten now. “Sorry. It’s a bad time, right?” She sighed and went to walk away again before thinking better of it. Besides he’d want to know what was wrong now and she could hardly walk away from the Flash. “Do people prefer her? Frost I mean? Now that she’s not being so murderous. I get she’s probably more ‘fun’ and all and I know I’m being an idiot even asking but I need to know.” she said quickly Babbling. Because of course. “What?” More confusion colored his features as he stared at her. “No, of course we don’t prefer her. Come on, Caitlin. You know that.” “I do. I guess. I mean our daughter went and got drunk with her, and it brought it all back. The memories. People have in jokes with her back home. She’s got her own thing, her own life and should be giving her that here? Is this it now? Me and her? Timeshare?” She knew Barry didn’t remember what she did. And she had no intention of telling him anything, she didn’t know what the impact might be. But he’d met Frost during her little outing here. Barry shook his head. “Caitlin, no one in their right mind would prefer her to you. I don’t. Neither does Cisco. And Ronnie probably would have hung out with anyone who was willing to get her drunk. I guess she hasn’t outgrown her rebellious teen phase yet.” He didn’t know what the future held for him at home or even everything that had happened with Caitlin, but he knew there was no way he would ever prefer her alter ego. “She's… being helpful though. Y’know back home. And she's not so Killer anymore. It's taking some getting used to.” She knew he meant it though. He was one of her best friends and he wouldn't lie to her about something that important. “It's important we keep her helpful all the same. Seems to be when I'm angry or scared that she happens...and somewhere like this, that's gonna happen a lot.” “Maybe her abilities are useful sometimes, but she’s still not you, Caitlin,” Barry countered shaking his head. “We need Caitlin Snow just as much as we need, uh, Not!Killer Frost. More, even.” “You're the best. You know that right?” She said insistently. “Our kid lucked out” She knew it was true. She couldn't see how they'd wound up together but it had happened. And resulted in Ronnie. “Thank you.” “Anytime,” he said, reaching out to pull her into a hug. “That’s what friends are for, right?” “I lucked out too.” she said letting him pull her into his arms. She really didn’t know where she’d be without her friends, without Barry. |
