DECEMBER 12 & 24
Kol Mikaelson ✦ Davina Claire
Reunion & Engagement Low Complete |
As hard as it was to believe that he’d been transported to another world out of any normal time or space, Kol found it even harder to believe that he’d disappeared and left Davina as many time as some of the others had told him. The mere idea of it made him angry, and he could only imagine some of the anger she’d been feeling. They’d lost one another one too many times in their own world, so losing each other in a place like this only made the lose worse. His young roommate had excused herself for the afternoon, and he paced the length of the living room over and over as he waited for Davina to arrive. The finished necklace and earrings he’d had made for her were tucked safely away in his room, but the ring was gripped in the palm of his hand. When he heard the knock, Kol didn’t hesitate to go to the door. Even before he opened it, he knew it was her. “Davina,” he said at the sight of her. She didn’t look exactly pleased with him in that moment, but he hoped what Bonnie Bennett said would hold true. That she’d be glad enough to see him that she wouldn’t hold his past disappearances against him. Too long. Was he actually here? Was he going to be there by the time she got to his new apartment, she vaguely wondered if he'd scared Bella already. Davina made a note in her mind to check on Bella later. It was almost easier to think about Bella and that instead of Kol being here or not being here. The last four times she'd rushed to find him, this time she paused and had to make sure she was ready for him to potentially vanish in front of her eyes. "Stupid," Davina said to herself as she made it to his door. When the door opened, she was so angry at the number of times, this was the fifth time he'd shown up here, sure the first they got there about the same time, but this was still the fifth time. "If you even think about vanishing from here again I'll hex the crap out of you." The warning of a hex instead of just going through with it made him smile. That was his fiery little witch that had somehow managed to capture his wild heart. Kol pulled her into his arms and hugged her tightly before kissing her soundly. Once he pulled away, he still kept his hands at either side of her face, drinking in the very sight of her. Even if it hadn’t been nearly as long for him as it had been for her, he still hadn’t seen Davina in several days. There had been the entire ordeal with his siblings, and the Hollow while she’d stayed away until he was able to meet her. “I’m so sorry I have been revolving door, love. I never want to leave you again.” He kissed her forehead and held her close again. He could feel her heartbeat thumping against his chest and it helped to relax his own mind a bit. Part of her wanted to stop from falling into him like she always did but she loved him too much to stop herself from letting him pull her towards him and melting into his kiss. She resting against him as he pulled her back to her after trying to reassure her that he never wanted to vanish on her again. She believed it, she really did, but she also just had the nagging feeling that he might disappear at any moment again. Shutting her eyes, she kept her arms around him breathing in his scent. "So, what happened at home this time?" Davina asked, it seemed like every time he went back things changed again, and he had new things to tell her about. Davina didn't really do the whole watch your show thing. Kol knew that he was going to likely have to prove to her that he wasn’t going anywhere, but he was grateful for now that she wasn’t pushing him away when she would have had every right to do so. “This time?” He thought about that and wondered if he was from a different time than she was. His sister had said she’d been from before they’d started the ritual, so it was possible Davina didn’t know everything. “I’d left New Orleans and was set to meet you in San Francisco. We went through with the ritual to separate the Hollow, so we’d all gone our separate ways.” He looked down at her to see if she seemed to know what he was talking about. “I suppose you could say I have a little magic inside of me after all, yes?” Nodding she sort of knew what he was talking about but she wasn't very well versed in it, and she felt like she had a lot of other questions about exactly what happened and everything. Davina knew that Kol of all of his siblings might handle not seeing each other the best, but she still didn't like that he was going to be separated from his family forever. Smirking she rolled her eyes. "Yeah, just an extremely dangerous psychotic witch from what I heard, at least it's out of Hope." She added. The last thing that kid needed was anything else weird. "So, were you close to getting to San Francisco?" Kol agreed and was thankful that the thing was out of his niece. A part of him was curious to know if he could master the power himself if he’d ever be given the chance to access it, but he also knew that was a dangerous path to start down. Focusing back on Davina, he nodded. “I was. I had a stop to make, but I was on my way to you.” The product of that meeting was still in his pocket, but he didn’t see now as the right time to give it to her. He’d imagined a grand, prepared gesture worthy of what she meant to him, but all of his plans were out the window now that they were here. He was going to have to come up with something else entirely. “Tell me, what all have you been up to here?” He asked, leading both of them over to the couch so that they could sit down. “As exciting as home?” Davina's eyes narrowed. "What kind of stop?" Kol wasn't predictable, and it was one of the things she loved about him, but she also knew that it came with a lot of surprises. "What I've been up to?" She laughed out. "Well, Atlantis isn't like home, but it matches it in exciting. People turned into Care Bears a few months ago, oh and there was the space mission...." she let the word trail off. “Just a necessary stop along the way to make sure everything was in order.” His eyes danced a bit as he spoke, but he wasn’t going to give away the secret. Not just yet even though it was driving him mad not to present the ring to her then and there. Kol wasn’t exactly someone who was known for his patience. As he heard about some of the unusual nuances of this place, he had to admit that he was a little impressed. Care Bears and space missions? Maybe he’d arrived just in time. Re-arrived. Something. “That sounds like quite the excitement. Less dangerous than home?” He could only hope so even if a little danger did keep things interesting. "A necessary stop." She repeated as she watched his expression carefully she had a feeling there was a lot more to it, and she wanted to know. "What aren't you telling me?" "Um, yes, and no, people get hurt, but no one has really been murdered in a while or died." She said with a shrug. It was sad how much death had been part of their lives that it didn't phase her the way that it probably should. Kol just smirked a little at her question. He wanted to do it soon, but he didn’t really want to propose to her here and now after he’d just been transported through time and space and when she was still dealing with him coming and going so many times. Besides, he needed to plan something… more. “You trust me, yeah?” He asked and pulled her close. “I’ll tell you all about it soon. I promise.” Kol kissed the top of her head and was just thankful that neither of them had to be apart from one another. He’d been thinking about how to arrange the evening ever since he’d seen her after first arriving. Was he going to do a grand gesture, a small one, or something in between? He hadn’t spoken to anyone about it yet, not even his sister. Deciding finally to have his flat decorated with enough candles to be a fire hazard, he left to meet her for dinner. He tried his best to cover up his nerves as best he could. Kol Mikaelson was nervous. Who would believe it? On their way home, the air was cold, and he wrapped his arm around Davina to hold her close to him as they walked and neared his building. Christmas Eve in Atlantis was a lot different than it was in New Orleans. The traditions were different, and the night life was quite different too. Still, he was enjoying himself. “Any thought on what you’d like to do tomorrow? Does Atlantis have its own holiday celebrations?” It’d been good having Kol back, different but the same all at once. She was still nervous that he'd randomly vanish again leave her alone wondering why the hell he couldn't stick around. He'd told her more than once that he wasn't going anywhere and she believed he didn't want to. "Umm, sometimes they do something, but mostly I think they give us a day off from whatever weird thing they try and throw at as for Christmas," Davina shrugged. "There were gifts from home last time. I'm not sure if they'll do that again or not." "Why do you have something in mind?" “A gift from home. That could be quite interesting depending on what they decide to hand out to everyone.” There were all sorts of things - personal effects, trinkets, and magical items - that he could hope to see again, but nothing that he absolutely needed to have. “Not particularly. Just that we might like spending a day inside to ourselves. I suppose we can say hello to Rebekah and Marcel at some point.” Kol could have done without the Marcel bit, but apparently the women in his life fancied him in one way or another. They made it to the tower and up to his floor. Just before he started to open the door, he smiled over at Davina. “Davina, love. Remember when I said I promised to fill you in on my little side trip to San Francisco?” He didn’t say anymore but instead opened up the door for her to see the scene inside the room. A day to just them sounded ideal to Davina, but she also knew they'd need to go see Marcel and Rebekah and have some family time. Davina still found it surprising how family had in some ways worked out better here in Atlantis. "Maybe we can see them mid-morning and have the rest of the day to ourselves." She suggested hoping that it would work for both Marcel and Rebekah as well. "And you conveniently changed the subject?" Davina teased as she gave him a curious look waiting for him to open the door. Her eyes had been on him and not the door opening as her attention turned her mouth dropped open. Covering her mouth, she turned to look at him, "Kol!" Davina wasn't sure how he managed to get all it put together without her knowing, or what he'd done with his roommate, but the place looked amazing. "This is," she couldn't even get the words out as she entered before turning to look at him. Ever since he’d arrived, Kol had been waiting for this moment. The moment where he was able to show Davina how he felt about her now and that he wasn’t planning on leaving her if he had any say in it. He’d planned to ask her this question before he ever came to this bloody island, but now it meant even more given what she’d been through with the other versions of him who’d been here. When she turned out to look at him, he just smiled at her and lowered himself down so that he was resting on one knee. The small ring box was taken out of his pocket, and he held it in his hands, not opening it just yet. “In all of my lifetimes,” he started. “You are the most amazing woman I have ever known. We’ve literally survived going to hell and back and yet here we are even still. You’ve not just changed me, but you’ve inspired me to change myself in ways that no one else could ever dream. I am a better man when I’m at your side, and I never want to be without you again in this lifetime or all the eternities here after.” At that, he lifted the box and opened it up to show the ring inside. He’d commissioned the jeweler to make a necklace and earrings out of the diamond, but the ring was still rather impressive too. “Davina Claire, will you do me the honor of marrying me?” Davina knew what was about to happen the second he was on his knee and she saw the box, although with Kol sometimes he could surprise you with what he was planning. Grinning as tears lightly fell down her face she was nodding yes long before he even asked the question. "Yes!" She said over his words. "Yes! Always, yes!" Davina let him slip the ring on her finger before pulling him up towards her so she could kiss him. "You know all I want is for us to be together, for us to face whatever happens together," she said after pulling back. The moment she said yes, Kol was grinning ear to ear. She was in his arms within seconds, and he had no plans of letting her go anytime soon. The ring looked beautiful on her finger, and it would go wonderfully with the necklace and earrings that were already wrapped and ready for Christmas in the morning. “That’s precisely what I want too, love. With you, always.” He kissed her again then held her tightly against him. He would protect and love Davina with every ounce of himself. Always and forever had taken on a brand new meaning. Everything felt like it clicked for Davina in that moment, she knew she wasn't alone with family like Marcel, but she still had always felt some level of not being part of something, part of what she'd dreamed a family could be. With Kol, with being engaged to him, everything clicked, everything felt like it should be. She was never going to be alone again. |
