Jyn was thrilled when she’d heard that Bodhi had arrived in Atlantis. She’d been hoping ever since Cassian had shown up that eventually the rest of the crew would follow suit but so far no one had until today. There was so much to tell him, particularly about the mission and how they had gotten the plans to the Rebel Alliance, and she wanted to hear his story too. They had left him with the shuttle and he had somehow managed to get the connection working so they could send the plans but she had no idea how that had been accomplished. Sadly she couldn’t tell him that anyone had survived but at least they knew that they hadn’t died in vain. It had been a relief to hear that after she had come to Atlantis.
She had agreed to meet him in the lobby of his building and as soon as she walked in and saw him, she couldn’t help the big smile that crossed her face. “Bodhi!” she called as she hurried over to him and enveloped him in a hug. Jyn had changed a lot during her time here, she was much more open than she’d been, showing affection was a lot easier and while there were still a few walls that no one had gotten through yet, she had come a long way.

Bodhi had been pleased to see that he wasn’t alone when he’d arrived in Atlantis. Discovering Cassian and Jyn were here had been a relief, they knew who he was to start with and seeing they were here and unharmed had eased the worry he’d had over their fate. He was looking forward to seeing Jyn and hearing how everything had gone on Scarif after he’d died. It was all worth it if they’d gotten the message out.
He grinned as he was enthusiastically greeted, returning her hug after only a moment's hesitation. “It is very good to see you” he told her, “I thought I might have been going crazy when I got here” he admitted.

She let him go and stepped back. The hug had surprised him, she could tell, and it had surprised her too. Jyn wouldn’t have done such a thing before she’d come here but she
Had changed, was still changing, and that wasn’t a bad thing. “It’s jarring, waking up in a strange room with a holograms telling you things that don’t make any sense,” she shook her head. “I thought it was the afterlife since the last thing I remember was a bright light and reaching for something. It’s the coin that brings us here apparently or so they say.” There was so much for them to talk about, she had no idea where to begin. “Let’s go sit down,” she led him to a couch in the lobby and sat down. This would be much easier if they were comfortable.
“Cassian arrived after me. I found him wandering in the hallways, he was hurt badly, and he spent some time in Medical. He saved my life,” she bit her lip, thinking of what had happened at the top of the Citadel. “The plans got to the Alliance, I found out the story when I came here and eventually they defeated the Empire. It took time though but in the end they won.”
****
The hug had definitely surprised Bodhi, the Jyn he’d gotten to know in their brief time together was a little more standoff-ish but he couldn’t say he minded this change. He nodded in understanding, “I thought the same, last thing I remember was the flash from a grenade” he admitted. So waking up here had been a mix of confusion and relief.
Once they were sat he listened to her talk, “It’s good to know we did it” he said with an honestly happy smile. They may have lost their lives but it wasn’t for no reason, “We completed our mission. But how did you find out? Who knew the story?” he asked her with a small frown.

“This is going to sound really strange and it took me a while to understand it,” she began. “But to a lot of these people here, our story is fiction. There’s a movie about us, it tells the whole story and then there are movies that come after that tell the rest of what happened. I haven’t seen any of them, I don’t think I’m ready for that but I’ve talked to some people who have and there are also people here from our world but from a different timeline.” Jyn shook her head. “That was hard to imagine but it’s true. Somewhere in the future, time splits but that doesn’t really affect us since well...we all died.” It amazed her how easily she could speak of her own death now. It had been impossible when she’d first arrived but now it was simply another part of her story.
“Coming here is a second chance. I’m very grateful that it happened and that we all have a chance to live on. Some people choose to go home but that’s not an option for me since there’s nothing to go home to. At least here, I get to live and I get to help people who need it. It helps make up for some of the things I’ve done that I’m not very proud of.”

Bodhi couldn’t quite wrap his head around that, he rubbed at his temples and frowned a little. He knew his mind was still recovering from the effects of Bor Gullet and may never be entirely back to how it was but this was mind blowing in it’s own way. But the second part of what Jyn was saying was somewhat easier to understand, “Different timelines...I can understand that more” he couldn’t explain it, he wasn’t that scientifically minded, but it made more sense than their lives being fiction.
“I choose to stay here, we’d be fools not to” Bodhi agreed before hesitantly laying a hand on her arm, “You have a lot to be proud of you know, you inspired a lot of people at the meeting on Yavin. You inspired me, just like your father did. You both have a way with words, a passion for doing the right thing”

“I know it’s a lot to think about and I can’t say I understand it entirely myself,” she said. “But at least you won’t be surprised if someone recognizes you.” There had been a few who had known her but thankfully not that many so she’d been able to settle in without a lot of trouble. “There’s nothing for us to go back to, which is also hard to think about but I’m grateful to be here.” She felt her face redden when he said that she’d inspired him. Jyn never thought of herself that way, everything she’d done, she had done to prove that her father was not the man people thought he was. “Well I don’t know about that but thank you, Bodhi. I’m glad that we were able to do what we did even if it didn’t work out so well for all of us.”
***
Bodhi nodded, “Yeah, that’s going to be weird. Thanks for the warning” he appreciated it, it wouldn’t be as shocking as it would have otherwise. People from their world he’d get, they’d be part of history he guessed but complete strangers. That would take some getting used to.
“I didn’t expect to get out alive” he admitted, “Honestly once Gerrera had his information I didn’t think he’d keep me around” He’d tried not to think about it at the time but Cassian and Jyn’s arrival had probably saved his life. “Choosing to go with you wasn’t even a choice, I knew I had to help you” She had inspired him, listening to her had reminded him of her father, he’d made Bodhi realise that he had to try and help. And he couldn’t deny that being told Gerrera was on Jedha had played a part in that decision. The galaxy had been telling him something.

“I wasn’t sure that we’d be able to pull it off,” she said. “But I knew we had to try and somehow we did it. My mother used to talk to me about the Force, she said to trust it and I tried but part of me didn’t believe her.” Reaching inside her shirt, she pulled out the Kyber crystal pendant that she still wore. “But she was right. The Force was with us or we wouldn’t have been able to get those plans out.”
She paused for a moment and then smiled at him. “Let’s not think about that day right now. There’s so much to show you here. It’s an amazing place. I hope you’ll be happy here.” Jyn knew that she was happy to have him here and she wanted him to find a place here. He deserved it after all he’d endured.
***
Bodhi smiled at that, “I grew up on Jedha” he told her, not sure if she knew that or not, “So I heard about the Force a lot, never really believed it all that much. We were occupied by then but maybe there is something in it after all. Something helped us complete the mission” he replied before nodding. Moving onto nicer topics was welcomed.
“It sounds like a good place to be” he said, “I get to work on their vehicles, I’ve always enjoyed that”
***
Jyn smiled and got to her feet, reaching for Bodhi’s hand. “Come on, let’s go. We’ll sit here all day talking and I won’t have shown you a thing. Maybe we’ll run into Cassian along the way.” That wasn’t very likely and part of Jyn hoped that they wouldn’t. For some reason, she wanted this to be just her and Bodhi. Maybe it was because she didn’t get the chance to know him in the way she’d known the others but now she had the chance and she was looking forward to i.
