He'd bben jogging for a good bit when he finally decided to stop. It was getting late and he should probably go back to his apartment but he wasn't ready. Instead, he collaposed on the ground and wipedd the sweat off his forhead with the t-shirt he'd shoved in his waistband a while back. Oliver had no idea where he was exactly but he knew he'd be able to find his way back. One of the many things he'd learned during his five years away both on and off of Lian Yu. Looking up he was surprised to see lights and he watched them for several minutes before he realized that he was seeing a meteor shower. It was beautiful and his first thought was that Felicity would have loved this but then he stopped. Felicity was gone, they were all gone, and it was all his fault. He hadn't really thought that Prometheus would do it, it had never crossed his mind that he'd been plotting his revenge for so long. To have rigged the entire island must have taken months or maybe even years. Had he been planning this for five years? the man was insane so it was certainly possible. He closes his eyes for a moment and took a few deep breaths. Getting angry wouldn't help anything. He couldn't change what had happened and even if he hadn't picked up the coin, he couldn't have helped them. He should have reached for William when he realized that he was being transported but there hadn't been time. Yet another person he had failed. His son. Although he'd failed him years ago. Never mind that he hadn't even known the boy existed because his mother had told him William's mother had miscarried. It was easy to say that he would have done something to help her if he'd known but would the Oliver that had existed then done anything? He was a completely different person from who he was now so who could say. Opening his eyes, he looked back up at the sky. He'd lost so many people and he was to blame for it all. Even trying to do the right thing had led to disaster. The people he cared the most about and a few that had been brought there by Prometheus, they were dead now. Because of him, because they had been his friends and had cared about him. What would happen to William now, he wondered. He was here, his mother was gone, who would find him? Would ARGUS eventually arrive and discover what had happened? There was no way to know. When he'd arrived here, he'd been told that he could go back if he chose to but the truth was, he couldn't imagine going back. It was too painful to even consider. At least here he could help with the crisis in Atlantis. He hadn't really talked to anyone since he'd gotten here other than Sara, Barry, and Kara. Maybe it was time to stop brooding and try to make a life here. He sighed and looked up at the sky once more and whispered the names of everyone that he'd lost. When he was done, he stood up and pulled his shirt over his head. It was time to go back, time to go back and try to put his life back together. Hopefully he wouldn't fuck it up. |
