16 MAY | LOG
16th May Christopher Chant & Open Floor B20 • The Vault PG • Open to the Unaffected and the Factionless Sub-Team |
Spirit travelling from Divergent to Atlantis was not, so it had turned out, easy. Christopher had lost his way and ended up back in his own body about a hundred times, much to Mr Salvatore's consternation, before he'd finally seen the familiar island out ahead of him. Once he'd found the right world, it hadn't taken him too long to get down into the city that he'd started to think of as home away from home. Still, it became clear very quickly that there was something not at all right about Atlantis. Christopher had had the good sense to keep out of people's ways as he made his way through the city, which was just as well because the people he was seeing, people he recognised as fellow Atlantis residents, weren't acting at all like the people he knew. He had wondered, on more than one occasion, whether he had come to the right world after all. Couldn't this be some parallel world, Atlantis B, for example? If Christopher hadn't been almost entirely sure that Atlantis was unique, and if he wasn't almost positive that this was COS's nefarious doing, he would have turned around and carried on his search elsewhere. Instead, he did the one thing he could think of and headed for the military base, hoping to find answers there. The base was like a ghost town, with all normal activity seemingly ceased. Quickly, he made his way to floor B20. Surely, if there were anyone left unaffected, they would have had the good sense to stay with the Vault. Once there, he started work on setting up the second half of the scrying gate. He hoped that the other two members of his sub-team had been able to successfully follow his progress by tuning the gate at their end, as he'd shown them, and, sure enough, he was able to find the tail end of the connection fairly easily. There weren't any mirrors or paintings hanging around near the Vault so, instead, Christopher set up a pair of chairs, back to back, on top of a desk and turned over another table to form the top of the precarious, raised archway. Through the centre of the arch, he pulled the magical connection to Divergent and, gently tugging at the spell until it became soft and malleable, stretched it until it filled the void. The image on the other end was dark and fuzzy but Christopher fiddled with the magic on his end until the faces of Raven and Damon came clearly into view. "Can you hear me?" |
