Damon Salvatore and Kai Parker
March 12th - After Kai's Arrival Post
Lightning Brew Pub
PG-15 (Mentions of Death)
Complete |
Damon was annoyed. Angry even. And that was hilarious. Kai hadn’t hinted at the power loss. Not to Damon of all people. He'd keep his supposed edge as long as he could. Only way. Damon had agreed to meet him though. Grudgingly, with that exasperated irritated attempt to be a hero but also want to straight up kill him again attitude. Over dramatic, Elena was fine here. And awake, Bonnie was fine with her crazy vampire boyfriend. Kai had no idea why he was still sulking. Maybe he’d found the gift he left with Kathy P. God that girl was impressive. Crazy. Desperately craving revenge so much she took hell for herself just to get to her boys. She’d tried to seduce him into helping, which...had been decidedly fun even though he’d decided to help almost as soon as he’d known the plan. But she wasn’t here and he needed to stay here. He wasn't going back. So getting the lay of the land was a good idea. “Miss me?” he said, finding Damon at the bar, “Did you know this place has literally everything? It has a zoo. I didn’t care about zoos before. But I guess once you’ve been in hell everything just seems a lot more interesting. And it has an actual theme park! Come to the theme park with me, Have you ever been on a rollercoaster. Took my very favourite brother on one once. He was so funny when he screamed. ...I guess that time it was a happy scream? Can you be afraid and happy at the same time? That seems weird.” And, there it was, Damon already wanted to rip Kai’s tongue out to shut him up. And, it only took 30 seconds, he was mildly impressed. There weren’t that many people that actually could irritate him quite that quickly. Apart from potentially the Gilbert-Donovan braintrust. But, then. He tended not to want to kill those two, these days. “Like a hole in the head.” He deadpanned, before giving in to the urge to roll his eyes at the heretic. “What the hell are you on about?” Damon wasn’t playing along. And he didn’t know if he’d made the comment he did on purpose. But if he did, good for him. It was actually pretty funny. If he’d meant it to be funny. He was deadpan and sarcastic but had never been that bright. “I mean can you be happy and scared? Genuinely curious here.” he said “Anyway I was going to get us drinks but I figured you’d get all uppity so, I’ll get them now, where you can see.” he said amused as he ordered a bourbon and a gin. “Anyway, parlay. I have every intention of playing nice. This place is alright, my roommates a sassy witch and apparently coven murdering psychopathic heretic isn’t the turn off it probably should be. Kiss and make-up?” Damon actually gave into the urge to roll his eyes this time. “It’s a different sort of scared.” Kai’s inability to deal with and understand emotions never ceased to amaze and irritate the hell out of him. “Why should I believe you this time?” Because, trusting Kai Parker was not something Damon could bring himself to do lightly. Not when the last time they met, he’d made him choose between the love of his life and his best friend. And, sure, the curse seemed to be inactive here. For whatever reason. But, risking that lunatic anywhere near the people he cared about was not something he was willing to do. “Because it’s better here than the alternative.” he said, his tone suddenly much more serious. “Because I’m not going back. Which means you, Elena and Bonnie, you don’t need to worry about me. I'm here to do the world saving just like you.” He genuinely meant it. But then once bitten and all, well, like four times bitten admittedly. But Damon had killed him and he’d ended up somewhere that while bad...very bad..had lead to something a lot more interesting. It was after that though… “You believe me because what other option do you have here?” “Nope. Don’t believe a single word out of your mouth. Never will.” Damon smirked, as he downed his drink, and pushed himself to his feet. “We done?” He was quickly losing patience with the heretic. And, unless the annoyance had anything more to say, he’d much rather leave. Since, his hands were tied, and he couldn’t kill him. “My god you’re still so dramatic. I’m actually not even lying, which, I can totally understand you not believing for a second but, what point would there even be? I can’t hurt y...well, no, I could. I did kill a whooole bunch of people without magic so I could just as easy…I really do talk a lot don’t I? I guess any conversation is better than none. Point is I won’t...kill you. Any of you. I’m on the wagon or whatever”” Kai shrugged, taking another sip of the gin. “Hey so, I read an article that there’s a connection between gin and psychopathy. I mean, sure, whole other world but I should call them, right?” he said amused as Damon got more and more irritated. “I would be the best case study, I should ask Claire…” Damon was getting to his feet before he’d finished the sentence. “Excuse me, RUDE” he said with a sigh grabbing the vampire’s wrist ready to siphon automatically . When he remembered that he couldn’t he pulled his hand back with an exasperated sigh of his own. “Whatever, go. Forget it. Hashtag DramaticTruceFail . Hey, can I get a zima? I’m doing gin science” he said as he called over the bartender as he did his best to ignore Damon. Damon huffed a laugh under his breath, as he realised what had just happened. Debated taunting Kai about it. But, really he’d had enough of his talking. And, knew it was best to get away from the temptation to stake him. Instead, he grinned as he left the bar. |
