The Soldier's orders had been simple. Infiltrate intake and destroy as much of the technology as possible. Cause as much damage to their systems as possible. His objective wasn't to kill, but he would dispose of anyone if it became necessary. Those in his way were of no consequence to him. The object was ultimately to cause chaos; the harder it became for the leaders of Atlantis to operate smoothly, the better it was for his handler. The handler, Agent Alexander, had a handful of other missions for him once this was completed, but the Winter Soldier didn't focus on those now. All that mattered was completing this mission and doing so quickly and efficiently.
The base of operations moved around as needed, but for now they were held up in another non-descriptive apartment in the heart of Atlantis. James Barnes kept himself out of sight as he was easily recognizable to the other displaced in the city, but Alexander and the other COS Agents were able to hide in plain sight without causing much alarm. No one had yet suspected what was happening or that the Winter Soldier had been been summoned for duty. Armed with knives, a couple guns, and several rounds of ammunition, the Winter Soldier was ready to make his move against Intake. He dressed as he normally would but wore some of his gear underneath a jacket. While he had been hidden since the triggering, getting into Intake initially go more smoothly if the others believed he was still acting as Bucky Barnes. Not that it made a difference if the job was smooth or easy, but the mission would be more effective if he could get further into their offices without detection before he began destroying the tech. Ignoring most anyone who acknowledged him or simply offering a simple nod as he passed, the soldier made his way through the hallways until he arrived at the Intake offices. The moment he stepped passed the front offices towards where the tech was being kept, he pulled out one of his guns from its holster and opened fire on the computers and hardware until his first clip was empty. He was in the middle of reloading when he began to hear someone come running up behind him demanding to know what was happening. --- Pike's normal duty didn't usually involve being involved with the technical side of intake, but since the glitch, he'd been spending some extra time there, trying to see what he could learn to prevent another glitch. He was talking with one of the techs when he heard the gunshots. Training kicked in and for not the first time, he was grateful for the healing he'd received when he'd arrived as he ran towards the gunshots on instinct. "Hey! Drop it!" he said, charging the man with the gun and hoping to tackle him. ---- Katie now wished she had spent more time at Hogwarts improving on her note-taking. Thinking that she’d be playing Quidditch until she retired, but now that she was Relations Director, there was a lot more paperwork to be handled. She was sure that if she had taken better care of her notes in school, it would provide her with the skills for today. In reality it wasn’t all that bad, but it was definitely the least favourite part of her job. It had started off as any normal day, until she heard gunshots. Luckily for Katie that she had been here long enough to even know what a gunshot sounded like. The first time she had heard it, the sound was extremely surprising for her. After all, she wasn’t used to people firing guns. In this case, Katie knew exactly what that sound was and immediately grabbed her wand. When she charged out of her office, she saw ahead Christopher Pike charging at someone. She didn’t get a chance to see who he was charging, but she immediately shot a protection spell at Pike, just in case. Then immediately turned her wand on the individual. Pike was still in front of her, so she couldn’t risk shooting a spell and hurting Pike. “Stop!” Katie said as she moved forward, her wand outstretched. ----- It wasn’t the noise that altered the Hapan Queen. It was a spike in her well honed danger sense that had her cursing the fact she’d left her lightsaber in her room. She could almost hear Jacen chastising her. But Tenel Ka was never without a weapon when she had the Force. She ran toward the sound and immediately tried to use the Force to get a read on the emotions of the attacker. There….there were none. Wrong footed, she glanced around seeing Pike and Katie already engaged in combat. One handed as she was, she would look like an easy target. She knew engaging one on one wasn’t the best idea but she could at least block his attacks, she was a skilled fighter. And she was not alone. She nodded to Katie with a whispered “cover me” and sped toward the man ready to engage alongside Pike hoping to at least get the gun away from him. ----- As expected, civilians came at him, but The Winter Soldier kept shooting. One man charged him in attack, and he stopped his actions long enough to strike hard with his metal arm and send him crashing into the computers that had already been destroyed. Two other women were there, and he sensed something else in the air. A type of magic brewing. James didn’t trust magic as it wasn’t something he could see or control. Using the butt of the gun, he smashed in one of the remaining monitors near him on his way towards the others. The red-haired one came at him next, and he reached out with his mechanical hand and grabbed her by the throat. Dead eyes bore into hers with nothing there to indicate that the any semblance man was still left inside. As his hand began to squeeze around her throat, he caught part of a blast from the other girl’s magic and was forced to let this one go and dropped her to the floor. ---- The gun didn't stop firing as he charged. Antiquated, with bullets. He tried to dodge, but Pike felt the burn of something tearing through fabric and skin. He'd deal with that later. He saw the metal arm, but wasn't prepared for it as it sent him flying through the air. He had time to think "That was unexpected" before his head connected with metal and he lost consciousness. ---- Damn. Katie was quite positive that she wouldn’t be able to face off against someone like him, but she wasn’t going to run away. She fired her wand again, attempting to stun him. ---- James set off another round of bullets towards anyone that came at him. He fired at the girl with the wand, causing her to fall back and fail to set off the spell. Another blonde came at him with a gun of her own. A bullet bounced off of his metal arm, and he only fired his gun in her direction this time, hitting her in the leg. He could hear others start to converge from down the hall, so with another round of bullets and smashing another set of computers on his way out, The Winter Soldier ran for a window and smashed through the glass onto the ground below to make his escape. |
