What: Lucifer gets to talk to Pansy.
Status: Complete
Lucifer had been making his way between floors, making sure everything was running smoothly. It had been months since he first arrived in Atlantis and running Trocution became easier and easier. It still wasn’t anything like Lux and it didn’t belong to him, but it would do until he decided to go back home. He finally stopped on one of the floors, tonight’s theme was Winter Wonderland. Honestly, he wished they’d ditch the themes. Some of them were quite annoying. Why couldn’t a club just be a club? Oh well. Not his problem. Although, the current theme made him check his phone for the weather. “A 10% chance of cotton candy?” he muttered to himself. Atlantis was at it again with its oddness. First the ice cream breakfast yesterday and now the weather forecast was giving funky updates. He just rolled his eyes and put his phone away. He would have ditched the floor, but somebody caught his eye. “Finally, somebody to talk to,” he said to himself as he walked over to where Pansy was standing. “So, we meet again,” he said loud enough for her to hear him over the music. ~ Bored of sitting in her room and plotting vengeance against her aggravating ex, Pansy had decided to go find some entertainment. She hadn’t really had a plan for where to go, and when she passed by Trocution with its posters declaring it to be Winter Wonderland night, she decided to stop by. She herself wasn’t at all dressed appropriately for whatever a Winter Wonderland was supposed to look like, but she figured she’d find some entertainment in seeing what get-ups others put themselves into to fit the theme, and no doubt there would be interesting new Winter-themed cocktails she could convince someone to buy her. She was just heading over to the bar when she heard a familiar accented voice, smooth and dark as the richest wine. “Well, if it isn’t the excellent snogger,” she said, turning around to greet Lucifer with a bright smile. She didn’t mind being free with the compliments if she thought it might get her something - in this case, a Winter-themed drink. “How’ve you been?” *** At Pansy’s words, Lucifer smiled. The mistletoe mishap had been the first and last time they had seen one another. “I’ve been good.” Except for the one day when he woke up in a whole new room with a roommate he wanted nothing to do with. But, he didn’t want to bring up that old complaint. “How about you, hm? How have you been?” ~ “Terribly bored,” Pansy drawled, looking like an oasis of ennui amongst the frenetic strobe lighting of the club. She slanted him a look. He didn’t seem to be with anyone, male or female, so she added, “Would you like to help me remedy that?” *** “Well, that’s no good.” In his eyes nobody should be bored. Especially in a city like this. There seemed to always be something going on, so he couldn’t help but wonder why Pansy has been nothing but bored. He glanced around at the sea of club goers before turning his attention back onto Pansy. “I’m always up for helping,” he told her with a huge smile. “First, I think you need a drink.” He moved over to the bar and told the bartender to get Pansy whatever she wanted. ~ Well, that was the drink taken care of. Pansy moved to the bar to order the featured drink of the night. She had no idea what was in it, but she was willing to try something new. “Tell me,” she said once the bartender moved off to make her drink, “what do you do for fun?” *** Any other time Lucifer would have been able to answer Pansy’s question with ease. He was always doing something fun and interesting back in L.A.. Not here in Atlantis, though. He really hadn’t noticed until now. Because of Pansy’s question. “This place has turned me into a boring person.” And he did not like that! “We need to do something. We need to break the boring.” ~ Pansy snapped her fingers. Now they were talking. “Yes, absolutely. We are two thrilling, interesting and very good-looking people.” Of course, there were people - smug, self-righteous, horrid people - who would claim that Pansy was ugly or puglike, but their opinions hardly counted. “We shouldn’t be anything close to boring.” She drummed her fingers on the table, an idea forming in her mind. “I am in need of something that I don’t think is native to Atlantis,” she said. “Who do you suppose may be able to help me with that?” *** Lucifer grinned. He completely agreed with what Pansy had said. “Yes we are.” So, why were they having a boring time in Atlantis? They should be living it up and doing what they would normally do back at home. Well, some of the things anyway. Back home he didn’t have Jean, so he was free to hit on anyone that he pleased. Here, though, he started holding back because he was still trying to figure out what he and Jean were. But, that didn’t mean he couldn’t find other ways to entertain himself. “Well, I guess that would depend on what you would need.” She must be thinking of something, and Lucifer wasn’t quite sure what it was just yet. Maybe if she said more he might actually be able to follow along. ~ Pansy sat back and considered him for a moment. Her drink arrived then, but she ignored it for the time being. Lucifer seemed like a resourceful sort of fellow, and her first line of inquiry had fallen miserably flat. That was what came of reaching out to Gryffindors, really. Those self-centred, smug arseholes. “Have you ever heard of blast-end skrewts? I need a vat full of them. And the vat too, I suppose.” *** He thanked the waitress when Pansy’s drinked arrived, but other than that his full attention was on Pansy and whatever plan she had brewing in that pretty little mind of her’s. “No,” he said with a small shake of his head, “can’t say that I have ever heard of such a creature. What are they?” The skrewts were probably something they couldn’t get their hands on, but something like a vat, they could probably get that. “I think I saw a large plastic container in the basement. You could probably use that.” ~ “Yes, I figured the skrewts would be the difficult ones to get,” Pansy sighed. She picked up her drink and lifted it to him in thanks before taking a sip. She set it down and pulled out her wand. “This is a skrewt,” she said, drawing the outline of a lizard with a fiery tail in the space between them. In the midst of the cold light of the Winter Wonderland theme, the yellow-gold drawing stood out as a bright beacon before it dissolved in a fit of sparkles. “They're not native here, of course,” she continued once she'd put her wand away. “So the question is, how do I bring some over, without having to go home and give every one of them a coin?” *** Lucifer watched as Pansy drew a skrewt with wand. He knew there were all types of people in Atlantis, but he had never seen any of the witches use their wands around him. It was quite fascinating. “Now I wish we could find them here. They look like they could be very interesting.” Instead they had whatever was around Atlantis. “I don’t think you can. We might have to find native creatures for whatever you’re plotting in that wonderful mind of yours.” He was sure they could substitute the skrewt with something else. ~ Wonderful mind. Ah, she liked him already. He, at least, appreciated her. The fact that he wasn’t too hard on the eyes helped as well. Who needed Draco Malfoy when she had Tall, Dark and Very Fit looking at her as if they shared a wonderful secret? Which they did, really. “If we can find native creatures close enough to the skrewts, I may be able to transfigure them to fit,” Pansy said thoughtfully. It would take a lot of work, but she was determined. She could be quite effective when she had a wager to win. *** “I’m sure we could. They kind of look like lizards.” He was pretty sure if they went to the outskirts of the city they could find enough of them for whatever Pansy had in mind. “When do you want to go?” They could go now or later, he didn’t care which. ~ “Let’s do it another day,” Pansy said, picking up her drink again. “I came here to drink and look fabulous in my dress, and it would be a shame to have to change out of it to go lizard-hunting.” She took a sip, looking at him over the rim of her glass. “Won’t you have a drink yourself?” *** “Okay. Lizard hunting shall happen at another time.” Pansy choosing that they go hunting another time, just meant they both had something to look forward to. “It would be a shame…” he said as he looked her over. Hm, right, he didn’t have a drink. He almost forgot since he ended up becoming so interested in what they were going to for fun. “I am.” Of course he was. “How’s yours?” ~ Pansy visibly preened at his look over. It was so nice to be properly appreciated. “It's very nice,” she said, and she picked up her glass again to finish off her drink. “You should try it. And I'll have another.” *** “Well, then, I’ll have to try it.” He ordered the both of them the same drink Pansy had just consumed. It wasn’t his usual type of drink, but he was always up for trying new things. This new friendship was going to be a good one, he could already tell. |
