There was always the possibility that some she loved could be hurt seriously or killed. Alicia knew that, she knew that was part of war, she’d lost people, like most people in Atlantis but what she wasn’t expected was the sheer devastation she felt at knowing that Angelina Johnson was simply out of existence. That knife shattered things, and from what she could gather it sounded like it touched Ange and she was just simply gone.
She stopped dead in her tracks as she stood about 300 meters from the base. She was still one of the teams trying to get more intel and had gone looking at a lead of some sort. She read the words over and over again, not just the initial information but everything she could read, Roger’s comments, Katie’s comments and it still didn’t feel real.
Eventually, she was able to type and delete and add to the chorus of ‘Fuck’s.’ She saw that Tracey said something back but she didn’t actually read the words as she found the closest bench to sit down. Her eyes were too dry to cry but her breathing was intense and she had a hard time focusing for at least a few minutes. Looking up at the sky she forced herself to breathe in a ragged breath as she whispered. “Tell Fred hi for me Ange.”
