Cappie hated himself for finding himself outside Terry’s door. He’d had fun with Buffy at Trocution but, after everything she’d said to him earlier that evening, he hadn’t been able to let go and enjoy himself like he normally would have. He’d considered going to see Tallie but he’d been weird with her too, because of the whole truth thing, and it felt like he should give her a little while to deal with what he’d revealed to her, despite how chilled she’d reacted. It had been a little while since he’d spoken to Harley so, short of going home alone to dissect everything that had happened that night, Terry was his next best option. He hoped she didn’t mind too much.
Giving a sigh, simultaneously wishing he wasn’t so weak willed, he knocked on the door.
Terry was chilling in her room when she heard someone knocking on the door. She was alone in the apartment and for a moment thought about not answering it, being way too comfortable lying on her bed watching some seriously bad horror movie.
But what if it was important? Or one of her roommates forgot their keys?
Sighing, she jumped off the bed and headed to the door. “Cappie,” she exclaimed surprised to see him there. Her lips curled in a smile and stepped aside so he could walk in. “Come in.”
Cappie stepped forward as soon as he saw that it was Terry who had opened the door, took her face between his hand and pressed his lips to hers.
“I want to share my gummy bears,” he murmured against her mouth, his brow creased in a frown. “You up for that?”
The kiss took her by surprise, but she welcomed it after a moment. She rested her hands on his chest and grasped his shirt. “I can’t say no to gummy bears,” she murmured against his lips, pulling him closer so she could shut the door behind them.
In the back of her mind a little voice reminded her that he had told her he didn’t think sharing his gummy bears with her would be a good idea, but she shoved that little voice and focused just on how good he felt against her. Oh, the memories.
The feeling of Terry’s hands gripping his shirt gave Cappie a renewed sense of purpose and he wrapped his arms around her when she closed the door, glad he’d put his faith in her as his place of solace.
“Which is your room?” he asked, thickly, barely breaking away from her.
She sighed softly into the kiss, glad she had chosen a light pair of shorts and t-shirt, loving how good his arms felt around her. “End of the hallway,” she murmured, turning around in his arms and guiding him to her room.
As soon as they were in her room, she locked the door and pulled him for a deep lingering kiss.
Cappie followed her obediently, keeping her close to him, until they were inside and he could kiss her properly again. The light was already off, he noticed, and the room was being lit by the flickering glow of a screen showing a film. He didn’t pay enough attention to it to work out what it was.
Without hesitation, he reached down and found the bottom of Terry’s t-shirt, whisking it up and off over her head so that her fox-red hair cascaded down around her bare shoulders messily. He tossed it aside and returned his lips to hers, his hands already seeking out the waistband of her shorts. The bed was behind Terry, across the room - he’d had a few moments to orientate himself when they’d entered the room - and he started to walk her backwards towards it.
Her hands moved to his shirt and began unbuttoning it after he took care of her top. She had never been more glad that she wasn’t wearing a bra. Less layers between them. Her mouth fed at his as she pulled his shirt off his shoulders and threw it on the floor, pressing her body against him.
When she felt the bed against the back of her legs, she got on and stood on her knees as she kept undressing him and kissing him, her hands moving down to undo his jeans.
Cappie helped Terry get him out of his blue shirt, bending his arms obligingly, before letting his arms slide around her again. He could feel her hands at the waist of his black jeans and he kicked off his shoes so that, when they eventually fell down around his ankles along with his boxers, he was able to simply step out of the whole lot.
Meanwhile, his hands were busy. Her shorts were made out of a lightweight material which stretched easily as he slipped his hands inside them, beneath her underwear, to cup her ass. In one fluid movement, he slid them down her thighs, taking the shorts and panties with them, until she was as naked as he was.
Lifting one knee to the bed to give himself the support he needed, he wrapped his arms tightly around her waist and lifted her backward and up before following her down to the mattress, pinning her beneath him.
Terry moaned into the kiss at the feeling of his hands on her ass. God, she had missed this. Him. She pressed herself more against him once they were both naked, needing to feel him closer to her.
She let out a soft giggle when he laid her on the bed, followed by a moan. Her fingers tried to grasp his hair but failed, his hair being way shorter than the last time they shared gummy bears. Still, she wrapped them around the back of his neck and pulled him down for a deep kiss as she rocked her hips against his.
Cappie laughed as he felt her fingertips raking through his short hair, searching for something to grab hold of. Still, his mouth was soon engaged again and his laugh was cut short.
He wasn’t in the mood to waste time. His hands and lips eagerly roamed over her long, lean body, as he re-learned her. He only pulled away from her long enough to put on a condom from the wallet in his jeans pocket, then he was inside her and they were locked together again until they were both completely sated.
Hot and sweaty, breathing heavily, Cappie let himself flop back against Terry’s pillow and put an arm out for her to snuggle close to him. As he did so, he cast an eye over at the screen on her desk, where the credits of her movie were rolling.
“I’m sorry. I guess I made you miss your movie,” he said, giving her as close to an apologetic smile as he could muster whilst feeling so thoroughly satisfied.
It had been just as amazing as she had remembered, or even a little better. She purred softly as she stretched a little and snuggled closer to him.
“Hmm?” she asked, the movie long forgotten in her mind. “Oh, it’s okay. It was a shitty movie anyways,” she chuckled. “This was a lot better.”
Cappie smiled and rested his cheek against her forehead for a moment, although he was too hot to keep it there for long.
Lifting his spare hand to run through his short hair, he took a deep breath then sighed it out.
“I was half expecting you to turn me around and kick me off of your porch after what I said to you on the network earlier,” he admitted. He’d forgotten, briefly, about the whole telling the truth thing - he and Terry hadn’t been doing much talking for the last half hour or so - but now it all came back to him and he inwardly groaned. He hadn’t considered the inevitable, post-coital chat in his grand plan to distract himself.
“I might have thought about it for a second,” she teased. “But I figured there had to be a reason for you to be out there, and maybe you needed a distraction. And well, I can’t say no to this type of distraction when it comes to you. I like gummy bears, after all,” she said with a light chuckle.
“And don’t worry, I won’t ask you about why you were outside or needed a distraction.” She figured he’d need the reassurance.
Cappie smiled but it didn’t quite reach his eyes. Not for the first time that night, Cappie felt like he had been in the position to take advantage. The only difference was that he hadn’t acted on it the first time. Although he thought he knew that Terry was cool, that she was happy to just ‘share his gummy bears’ without letting things get weird, she had also given him the impression that she wouldn’t be up for doing this with just any guy and that worried him slightly. He shook it off and tried not to think about it for the time being.
“You can ask me,” Cappie replied, glancing down at her. “But only if you actually want the answers because I won’t be able to lie to you.”
If anyone knew the benefit of a well placed non-truth, it was Cappie. He rarely out and out lied to people (unless he counted himself - he was good at lying to himself) but he liked to be able to dodge revealing the truth by deflecting with humor or sarcasm. To have that technique taken away from him left him feeling very exposed.
She shook her head lightly. “We all deserve to have our secrets, Cap,” she said. “I wouldn’t want to take advantage of you being incredibly honest without actually meaning to.”
She could imagine it had something to do with the girl he was seeing, or maybe there was another one. You never knew with Cappie. He had a reputation after all, and it didn’t seem to have changed much all the time she had been gone.
The smile Cappie gave her this time was much more genuine and he wrapped his free arm around her, giving her a little squeeze. This was the reason he’d come here tonight, to Terry.
He held her for a few moments longer before letting her go and shifting to push himself up on his elbow and look down at her.
“Maybe it’s safer if I go,” he said, uncertainly. He didn’t really want to leave, nor did he want to make her feel used, but he knew he couldn’t trust himself to keep his mouth shut if he stayed. And not just that; it wasn’t fair on her, either. She needed her secrets too.
She smiled when he held her, and she nuzzled his neck, pressing her lips against his pulse for a moment before he let her go.
“Maybe,” she echoed with the same uncertainty. She bit her bottom lip and looked up at the ceiling for a moment. “This is a little weird,” she admitted, chuckling. She sighed and looked at him. “If you wanna leave, go. I won’t hold it against you, I promise. It’s a weird day for everyone.”
“I don’t want to go,” he replied quickly. “You know me; I can always go for Round Two,” he added with a grin and a lift of his eyebrows. “But I don’t want to put either of us in an awkward position either.” He realised the irony of his words; if this wasn’t an awkward situation, he didn’t know what was.
“It’s your bed so it’s your call,” he said eventually, after a long pause.
She smiled softly at him and bit her bottom lip for a moment as she thought, even though the answer was pretty clear. “Maybe we should leave round two for another day and don’t tempt the fates tonight,” she finally said.
It was just better for them to go separate ways tonight.
“Okay,” Cappie agreed. He knew it was the sensible thing to do. He leaned in and pressed a kiss to her lips then reluctantly extricated his limbs from hers and sat up.
It took him a few moments to pull his boxers and pants back on and he stood up, turning back around to face Terry as he fastened them.
“I know I said we shouldn’t but I’m glad we did this,” he said, leaning down to pick up his new, blue shirt before pulling it on. “I missed you.”
He looked at her for a moment, her beautiful, pale body stretched out on the bed. Fuck, he was lucky. Why, then, did he still have that feeling like something was missing? No… now was not a good time to think thoughts like that or he’d end up trying to explain Casey again and no one needed that.
He finished buttoning up his shirt then crouched down to put on his socks and shoes before straightening up.
Terry watched him as he put his clothes back on and smiled. “I missed you too,” she said softly. And she’d really missed him. Yes, they had awesome sex, but he also was a good friend. And she had missed that.
She wrapped the sheet around her body and got up from the bed. “You know I’ll be happy to share my gummy bears with you whenever you want,” she said, smiling up at him. She reached up and pressed a small soft kiss on his lips.
