As far as Christina was concerned, her time in Atlantis had practically been a vacation. There were expectations with her newly assigned job, but considering most of that had involved learning the lay of the land, she didn’t have much to complain about her first “honest” profession. There had been plenty of time to indulge. How else was she going to recommend the local spa unless she tried it out for herself? There was enough in Atlantis to soothe some of the sickness she’d been feeling for home during the last few months, with just a dash of the unusual to keep herself from getting too bored. Truth be told, in the ten days that Christina had been here, she had felt more at home than she had anywhere else. It seemed that not even the housing areas were safe from the “unusual” that Atlantis liked to spread. Christina had already dealt with the mess of a maze the complex had turned into. Not that it wasn’t fun -- she particularly enjoyed the 8-bit soundtrack that acted as ambient noise -- but she hadn’t worn the right shoes for hours of weaving in and out of the area, which slightly tainted the experience. Today, however, was a different story. Christina had gotten up (relatively) early to head down to the gym. Being on the first floor, there was barely an excuse not to take the stairs. To further prove what a good decision she had made, Christina was greeted with an entire staircase covered in bubble wrap. “Fantastic.” A smile had begun to spread from ear to ear as she took the first step. There was something universal about loving to pop bubble wrap and Christina was no exception. She’d made it halfway down the stairs when the door behind her opened. “You’re in for an absolute treat,” she called out, not looking up at the person who had joined her. |
