DATE: July 29 (backdated) CHARACTERS: Jyn Erso LOCATION: The mission ABOUT: Late night musings STATUS: Complete Narrative
Jyn couldn't get to sleep. Partially because she was hyped about being on mission which wasn't unusual, most people got that way, but partially because this mission was different. Going back in time to an earlier mission, not going back to a different time on someone's world but this world. Atlantis and all the risks involved with the chance of seeing themselves or someone else's earlier selves. It was a lot to think about.
She'd been here for two years now, the longest time she'd been in one place since she was a child. There had been a lot of things happen while she'd been here, she'd seen people come and go, things she had never dreamed of, she'd even been a panda. Before she came here, she'd never had a personal life, there hadn't been time, it was far too dangerous to let herself care for someone, anyone she'd spent time with had been for a little human comfort in the form of sex. That was different now and she couldn't help but smile to think of it.
When Cassian had arrived, she'd wondered if maybe this place would bring them together. It seemed logical, they'd had a connection ever since they'd met, they'd been through hell and back together and despite the short time they'd known one another, he was a good friend. Without the stress of their mission on Sacrif, all the things involved, they'd come to the realization that they were friends, best friends, and they always would be. He'd fallen in love with Mara and they were expecting a baby and they had their two older daughters here as well. She'd met Marcus and had fallen for him. Jyn didn't know what their future held but she knew they'd be happy together. How she knew that, she couldn't say but she was certain that they would have a good life.
Turning over, she took a deep breath and closed her eyes again. Maybe this time sleep would come. She hoped so, there was a lot to be done in the morning and she wanted to be fresh for it. Someone had mentioned that things seemed to be happening a lot more lately and Jyn wondered if that meant something. Was COS planning something big? It certainly wasn't impossible, they'd done strange things before and then surprised everyone. Whatever it was, she believed they'd be ready for it, she trusted the commanders implicitly which was a huge thing for Jyn who'd once trusted no one, sometimes not even herself. As far as this particular mission, Cassian was in charge and she definitely trust him with her life. After all, they'd died together but that wasn't going to happen this time. They'd come through it, they all would. There was no doubt in her mind. Her mind was starting to drift and she shifted once more and looked up at the sky. They weren't the stars she was used to seeing but they were stars all the same and they were beautiful. "Goodnight," she whispered to no one in particular and she finally close her eyes and let sleep take her.
