“No no no no no no!” Hope let out as three of the now 22 yo-yos she’d had the freaking urge to buy went flying out of her arms, the strings flying out as they started to roll down the hill near the base. She really wasn’t planning on buying yo-yo’s during her break and she sure as heck didn’t really care to bring them to the base either.
Hope started chasing after the few she’d dropped as a few more fell out of the bag behind her, before she even knew what was happening she found herself tied up in the loose strings and very slowly falling down to the side.
“You have to be kidding me!”
“You don’t really strike me as a yo-yo person,” Brent teased as he happened to be passing by with the good timing to keep Hope from totally falling over as she got trapped in the strings of her yo-yos. He’d seen enough of them around today to be pretty sure it was an Atlantis thing.
As Hope got her balance back she sighed looking at Brent, she really wasn’t and she really wished she didn’t feel the need to get so many of them. “Yeah, I’m not, I don’t think I ever even had one when I was younger,” she admitted. “Thanks, by the way,” she added as she kicked away some of the string sending a yo-yo flying and hitting a tree.
“Of course,” Brent nodded, offering her a bemused grin as he tried to help her disentangle herself. “I guess Atlantis just decided you should make up for lost time.” He had been in Atlantis long enough to be used to the frequently strange occurrences and once you'd accepted that your sister was a mermaid, it just made other things easier to accept. He was kind of taking it in stride.
“I guess so,” Hope shrugged. She really wasn’t sure that was what it was, but it was kind of possible. “Well, I better get these somewhere safe and get back to training.” Hope figured Bellamy wouldn’t really be happy if she were late.
Brent nodded. There wasn't really much else to say about it and even if he was only a reserve, he understood the importance of training. “Do you want some help?” he asked her. It really was a lot of yo-yos.
“Sure,” Hope said after a pause. She didn’t usually opt for anyone to help her but she was trying not to be as totally closed off. So, she let him help.
