The house was really too quiet, Logan and Erik off on mission meant it was just Alicia and Laura, part of her loved the alone time with Laura but she also hated not having either of the blokes around. She caught herself a few times nearly calling out for one or the other for various reasons.
She heard a knock at the door and called out, “It’s open!” She figured it was one of her mates. Everyone knew she always ended up making too much food.
“It’s supposed to be summer. Why is it raining like this? It feels like we’re back home,” Roger complained as he walked in with Batman and Roger Davies Jr, his ferrets, in the pockets of his hoodie. He shook his head and wiped his face to get rid of the rain droplets.
Roger had been bored at home so he decided to go visit Alicia, and maybe eat something because he wasn’t in the mood of cooking that evening. “I brought the boys, in case Laura is around and wants to play with them... What’s for dinner?”
Alicia smirked when she heard Roger’s voice. “I think she’s somewhere, or she might still be at the zoo,” she probably should know but Alicia did like to give Laura room and usually didn’t give too many rules unless they were needed. “She’ll be back for dinner,” Laura did love food.
“Pappa al Pomodoro,” she said with a shrug, it was a go to comfort mean for her. “And some cheese and meats,” she added looking up. It wasn’t a complicated mean to make but it was one of her favorites.
“Awesome,” he said with a smile. Maybe that way he could convince Laura to get some ferrets so Batman and Jr could play with some others. “That sounds delicious... Like everything that you do.” He was sure Alicia could make the simplest mean and make it taste amazing.
He dropped the ferrets on the couch and grabbed his wand to dry his clothes. “So, what’s going on Alipoo?”
“Well, most everything, those mud pies as kids weren’t all that tasty,” she smirked.
Looking back down to what she was doing she shrugged at his questions. “Nothing new really, sort of wondering how Logan and Erik are doing.” She didn’t say much else about it, she didn’t know where they were, just that they were on a mission and she really probably shouldn’t have said anything.
“Pff, there were the best mud pies I ever had.” And he meant it. He ate that stuff like it was the most delicious pie he had ever tasted.
He flopped on the couch and Batman quickly climbed up to his shoulder while Jr curled up on his lap. “You spend a lot of time with those blokes.” It wasn’t a critic or anything. It was just a harmless comment, maybe with some curiosity in it.
“They were horrid,” Alicia called out shaking her head.
“They are my housemates,” the truth was, was that she spent a lot of time with Erik more than Logan. Although what she and Erik were exactly was still confusing. They both clearly had feelings for each other and they were figuring it out. Slowly.
Roger gave her a shrug. “Yeah, I know,” he nodded. “It was just an innocent comment.” His next comment, however, was not so innocent.” You’ve never... you know, with any of them?”
“Are you asking me if I’m seeing one of them, or sleeping with one of them?” Alicia asked with a small laugh as she tossed a piece of bread at him.
Laughing, he grabbed the piece of bread and ate it. “Maybe,” he said with his mouth full. “Have you?”
“No,” she hadn’t slept with either of them. She wanted to say something about herself and Erik but she wasn’t sure what to say. “Well, I guess there is something sort of with Erik,” she held up her hand. “Don’t start with the list of questions, it’s a take things slow sort of thing.”
Roger’s eyes widened. “Since when? Does anybody know? Do Katie and Ange know? Does Laura know? Don’t tell me I’m the last one to know.” It wasn’t his usual list of questions, just some very needed answers.
“No one really knows, well, Laura might, but she lives here. Ange knows I care about him.” She did Elle but she decided not to say that one right now. “But she doesn’t really know past that. And Wanda knows.” Alicia spent too much time with Wanda for Wanda not to know how she felt.
Roger sighed and pursed his lips for a moment. “Okay, so I’m not the last one... Good.” He hated being the last one to know things. “So you like Erik?”
“Is my love life really that interesting?” She started to feel like it’d been a topic of conversation a lot lately. “Yeah, I do, a lot.” She admitted. “He’s different, in all the right ways.” And infuriating sometimes, but she oddly liked that about him too.
He nodded. “It is, specially when I don’t have one right now.” And she was his sister. He should know who she’s dating and give her his approval. Or kill the guy with Ange’s help if they didn’t like it — she was definitely more violent than him. “Is he good to you? Does he make you happy?”
“Still nothing with Cho?” She asked. “Weren’t you going to talk to her?” She promoted. She blushed at his question though. “Yes,” it was probably more complicated than a simple yes, but Erik was good to her, and despite the uncertainty of how things would move forward he was there for her.
“I just haven’t found the right moment to ask her. But I will, I promise,” he said.
Roger noticed the blushing and smiled. “You really like him, don’t you? I haven’t seen you blush like that for a guy in a long time.”
It was true, she hadn’t blushed like that in ages, here or back home. The last time she had was, well, that was complicated, but it’d been a good while. “Yeah, I do.” She admitted. “He’s different,” that was beyond true. Although Elle was right, she tended for complicated blokes with questionable pasts.
“I’m happy for you, Als,” he said with an honest smile on his face. He wanted Alicia to be happy. She deserved to be happy. “Different is a good thing.”
“So, you and Cho?” She asked happy for the subject change.
He took a deep breath and let it out slowly. “I’m waiting for the right moment to ask her. I can’t just show up to her office and ask her.” Although he kind of did that all the time with his friends whenever he wanted something. He just walked in without permission.
“You’re waiting for the right time?” Alicia asked looking at him with a curious expression. “Roger, go ask her now, stop sitting about worrying about it!” well, maybe not right that second, but she did think it was odd he wasn’t just going to ask her.
“But I like her,” he admitted. “I don’t want to fuck things up because I rushed things. I don’t want her to get the wrong idea.”
“Roger, waiting for the right times means there might never be an exact right time, sometimes you just have to dive in,” she sort of had done that, well, very sort of. “And besides, I have a feeling Cho will be excited by the idea.”
Roger sighed and nodded. “Okay, okay. I’ll ask her today.” He really hoped Alicia was right.
