Erin was glad she didn’t play today, the weather for the match was horrid, despite the weather she and Poe did go to watch. She cheered on the Falcons simply because she knew more people on the team, but did sometimes find herself cheering for the Lynxes. After the match, she stopped by work and ended up meeting Poe for dinner at Stone. There was part of her that wondered what Delilah would say if she were here and could see Erin in an actual relationship like this one.
After dinner, they went back to his place and found themselves back at his place, he had the one housemate while Erin had three. They’d absentmindedly turned on the TV and Erin had no idea what was on it, but they really were chatting more than paying attention to it.
“You haven’t said if you approve of the bloke Rey is seeing,” Erin said after a moment of silence.
“I haven’t met him yet,” he said, hugging Erin closer to him as they sat on the couch. He really enjoyed moments like this with her, being closer and just chatting about everything and nothing for hours. “I keep wanting to do it, but I don’t want to sound like an overprotective father to Rey. Although if he treats her wrong I will probably kill him. Slowly,” he added.
Erin tilted her head enough to see his expression, she smiled warmly as he got protective, she could feel it in the way his arms tensed around her. “You’re going to have to let her make her own mistakes, and he seems like a nice guy.” Erin had read his file, not that she was going to admit to it. She read most everyone’s file, but she paid close attention to his.
“I’m letting her make her own mistakes. She’s old enough and has been through enough to deal with the consequences. But guys are different. They can hurt you deeper after making you feel you’re the only thing to them,” he said, getting into full older brother/father mode real fast. “When have you met him?” he asked curiously.
“I think that’s a power anyone has,” Erin said tilting her head curiously. She knew women could be just as bad as men when it came to using people, but she really didn’t think Charlie seemed that bad. “I work in relations remember? I’ve met most everyone here, or at least have read their file.”
He nodded. “Yeah, you’re right. But you know what I meant. I don’t think Rey has ever been with anyone, and I worry about her.” Father mode was full on with Poe at that moment. “Right,” he chuckled. “I forgot you have access to everyone’s file... Including mine. That’s a bit scary,” he teased, smirking at her.
“I thought she had dated Luke Skywalker before he left?” She wasn’t sure about that, but she thought that was something she’d read at some point. “Are you worried about what I might find in your file?” She asked laughing.
“Right yes. But I meant someone outside our world,” he chuckled, shaking his head. He had totally forgotten about that. What kind of friend was he? He needed to get his head checked. “Very,” he laughed. “Who knows what kind of lies they have put in there,” he teased.
“Rey seems happy, and that’s what counts,” she offered. “You think there are lies in your file?” Erin teased. “Well, I guess I’ll have to re-read it again to find out.”
“That’s good. I want her to be happy. There’s been enough sadness in her life.” She has been through too much. “Re-read it?” he asked with his eyes wide open. “You’ve read it before?”
“Of course I have!” She laughed. “And don’t worry, it was part of the job,” she had read his file before she really got to know him well, she hadn’t looked at it again.
“Oh, the stars,” he covered his face with his hand and groaned. “I hope it just talks about my amazing skills as a pilot,” he laughed. He was mainly just joking around. He was sure there was nothing in his file that would embarrass him. He was very proud of all his actions.
“A little bit about your ego, and some of the things you got up to,” she teased leaning in kissing his cheek. “Don’t worry, it’s nothing horrid, or embarrassing,” Erin added watching him carefully.
“Ego? What ego? I’m the most humble person in the universe,” he joked with a laugh. He knew he had an ego, but it sort of came with being the best pilot in the galaxy. “Good. Those stories are for yours ears only... when I’m way too drunk,” he chuckled. “What’s on your file? Embarrassing teen stories? Old boyfriends I should eliminate? That time you fell on your ass while being drunk?” He teased, his hands on her sides tickling her lightly.
“I’m sure you haven’t a clue what I am talking about,” She teased laughing as she tried to bat away his hands finally managing to catch them. “I’ve never been drunk enough to fall on my arse.” Which was actually true. “But it does detail my family, which is information that makes sense for a file.”
When she caught his hands, Poe tried to bring her closer so he could press a kiss on her lips. “I’ve fallen way too many times on my ass while being drunk,” he admitted with a chuckle. “That does make sense,” he nodded. He didn’t push into the subject as he knew about her family and everything that had gone on. He leaned in again and kissed her softly.
Erin smiled into his kiss and leaned into him a little bit more. She just wasn’t the sort to get drunk like that, at least not anywhere anyone past close friends or family could see. Erin was responsible. “I’m sure you have,” she teased.
“Many many times,” he admitted with a laugh. “We have some pretty strong stuff in our world. One sip and you’re done for the night.”
He smiled and brushed his nose against hers. “I like this,” he said softly.
“We do too, I just tend to be careful where I sample it!” She teased.
“I do too,” she admitted. Erin hadn’t been the sort that was good with relationships, she’d never given in like she was now. “I really do.”
“I guess I don’t,” he laughed softly.
He smiled warmly at her, his hand coming up to caress the side of her face softly. “I don’t think I’ve ever felt this way with anyone.”
Smiling she leaned forward kissing him softly. “Me too,” she admitted. Although Erin hadn’t had a lot of relationships, but she felt like this was different, really different.
He ran his fingers through her hair and caressed the side of her face. There was something different about Erin, he had never met anyone like her -- and it wasn’t just because she came from a different world than him. She made him feel different, and he liked it. He leaned to kiss her softly. “Do you want to stay the night?”
Leaning into him a little bit more she smiled. “Yeah, I’d love to.”
