Ange sat down on the beach and settled her bottle of firewhiskey next to her before looking at Alicia. “Okay so, who’s the guy and where is he so I can kill him for hurting you?” When Alicia had said they needed to catch up, Ange knew there was a person of the male gender involved. There usually always was.
Like with her sisters, Ange felt incredibly protective of her best friends. They were sisters to her. And that meant that Angelina was not above killing anyone to protect them. Okay, maybe not kill, but punch them or hex them to oblivion? Definitely.
Laughing she shook her head. “There isn’t anyone to hurt,” well, Flint was probably on the list still and Sam for vanishing but that wasn’t really much of a worry for her anymore. They were in the past.
“Really, there isn’t any bloke, it’s just you don’t remember being here or at Quidditch Village,” Alicia started, “I haven’t seen you since September last year. That’s a lot for you to have missed.” Besides, the bloke in her life right now was more confusing than anything else and she wasn’t exactly sure what they were.
Angr raised her eyebrow skeptically at her friend as if asking if she was sure. “Quidditch Village? Definitely, don’t remember any of that. Or being here before.” This whole situation was so weird. She didn’t really know how to react to this multiverse thing. “I saw you yesterday, but I know time works different here somehow.”
“So what’s going on in your life then?” she asked, hugging her legs and resting her head on her knees as she looked at Alicia.
Alicia nodded, yeah, there was so much she didn’t even know where to start. “Alright, cliff notes, fell for Marcus Flint while at Quidditch Village, ended up here, started going on all sorts of weird missions, made some new friends, dated a bloke called Sam, well he is actually a Cylon so not exactly human, he vanished,” Alicia frowned as she thought about Sam. He’d been gone nearly a year now. “Flint was here for a bit, dated him in this place Breckentale while I wasn’t really me, well I was me, just it’s complicated, got kidnapped a few different times.” She shrugged. “Adopted a kid, well, wouldn’t say I’m like her Mum, she was Flint’s sister in Breck and when we came back, Flint left and I wasn’t going to leave Laura alone, so she’s with me now.” She took a breath. “Oh, and I’m pretty sure I’m completely falling for one of my housemates Erik.
When Alicia started to speak Angelina felt like she should’ve brought a notebook and pencil so she wouldn’t miss anything. “And all that happened since September?!” she exclaimed. She rubbed her face and looked at Als. “Okay so you fell from Flint — weird as fuck, by the way. I’m sure Roger agrees with me there. Then fell from some cyclops? That was what he was? Whatever. Adopted a kid and you’re falling from your housemate... Als, leave something for others!” She teased. “But seriously now, I... I don’t know what to tackle first. We need a serious intervention.”
“That all happened over the last 3 years,” she corrected with a small laugh. “Cylon, he looked human, was basically human, just, it’s complicated.” She pulled out her tablet and started flipping through old pictures finally finding one of Sam.
“An intervention? For what?”
“Cylon. Got it,” she said with a nod. “Wait. Three years? Holy shit, Als!” This whole time thing was starting to give her a headache. She tilted her head and looked at the picture. “Oh, hello there! He’s hot.” She exclaimed.
“An intervention for... I don’t know. My head is starting to hurt from all this information and trying to figure out how this place works.”
Laughing she nodded. “I know, it’s a lot,” Alicia did know it was a lot but for her this was her home now and she couldn’t imagine leaving. There was part of her wondered what she’d do when the war was finally over and what would happen. Would Laura want to stay? Erik? She had to shake those thoughts away. “Atlantis is a bit weird too.”
She took a deep breath and stared at the ocean for a moment before turning to Alicia. “So tell me about this housemate of yours. Have Katie and Roger given their approval or they don’t know yet?”
Alicia tilted her head, she hadn’t really had a conversation with anyone about her feelings for Erik but that was partly because it was just bloody complicated in a weird way and she wasn’t even positive he felt the way she did, although she suspected he did. “I haven’t been not sharing it, I just haven’t been sharing it either. Elle knows and I’m pretty sure Wanda does as well even if we haven’t talked about it outright.” Which was a whole other strange thing in her life. “He’s a bit of a bad guy in his world, but he isn’t evil, he just, he’s been through a lot,” from what she could gather. “He’s complicated, but he’s warm and caring, and funny, and always there for me.” Alicia trusted him.
Angelina frowned at the mention of Elle. “Wait wait wait. Rewind a little bit. Elle is here? Alive? And you’re talking to her?” She was a little shocked — and by little she meant a lot.
“Right,” Alicia laughed. “Yeah, she’s been here a while now, we,” she tilted her head. “Actually get along alright, we seem to be on better footing.” She wasn’t sure how the switch from hating her sister to actually not minding being around Elle came from, probably Breckentale but Elle knew Alicia had feelings for Erik.
“That... That’s gonna take me a while to process,” she said honestly. She had very strong feelings about Elle and couldn’t just switch them off after all she did to Alicia.
She ran her fingers through her hair and focused on something else. “Okay, so this Erik guy. I think if you feel something for him you should go for him. If he makes you happy, grab him and kiss him. See what happens.”
“It’s a bit weird still for me too sometimes,” she admitted, she knew how complicated it was.
Laughing she wasn’t sure. “I don’t know,” she admitted. The truth was she didn’t want to lose Erik and part of her feared doing that might just be over the top. “He’s,” she paused letting her head fall back as she looked up. “I don’t know.”
Ange moved closer to Alicia and rested her head on her friend’s shoulder. “Love is a complicated thing, I know. But sometimes you just have to take a leap of faith.” Angelina liked to think she was good at giving love advice — and advice in general — though she rarely followed her own.
“And what is that thing about you getting kidnapped? Or did I make that up?” Alicia had given her so much information she wasn’t sure what was real and what was just her imagination.
“Yeah,” she knew she would have to figure it out eventually. “I think I might try talking to him,” she said with a small shrug. She was getting to the point where she couldn’t figure out what they were doing.
Laughing she nodded. “Twice, well I guess three times if you count the arena of death,” she looked down. “First time ten of us were taken, the second time was five of us and the arena, well, that was something else altogether.”
“Good. Talking is good too. I think kissing would make a better point, but to each their own,” she chuckled, teasing her a little.
“You got kidnapped three times? Als, Merlin! Have you talked to someone about that?” She looked at her concerned. Getting kidnapped was no joke.
Alicia laughed rolling her eyes. She wasn’t sure what she’d do yet but she was sure she’d eventually have to say something.
“Mandated by command,” she nodded. Alicia wasn’t sure she would have gone without it being part of how things worked but she didn’t mind it so much, Sam was easy to talk to. “Never thought I’d really become a field agent, soldier sort.” She shrugged. Not that it was her life she really couldn’t imagine anything else. “You’ll have to meet Wanda soon too, she and I have been on a team together nearly the whole time we’ve been going on missions.”
“Good. And you know I’m here if you need to talk to someone that isn’t a shrink,” she offered. “I’m a field agent too, apparently. I don’t know what made them think I could become an agent,” she chuckled softly.
She smiled and nodded. “I’d love to meet her. And that Erik of yours too,” she teased her, nudging her lightly.
“Oh yeah, what team are you on?” She asked, she probably should have asked already but that was okay.
Laughing she nodded. “You’ll have to meet Laura too, she’s a good kid, but don’t let her talk you into getting her an animal of any sort. She will too.” She smirked.
She laughed. “What? I can’t spoil her with puppies and kittens? What kind of awesome adoptive aunt would I be if I didn’t get her everything she wanted?”
“No, we don’t have enough room for any more animals,” they probably did and Alicia was pretty sure one of them was going to eventually give in but not right away. “We’ve got a goat, she’s got a mini cow, the cow doesn’t live at the house, and I’m pretty sure if she could she’d bring home a lion from the zoo here.”
She gave her a pout. “You’re one tought adoptive mother, Spinnet.”
She smiled and sighed. “I think I could get used to this place. Maybe a change of scenery is good for me.” Life back home was a little messy, and she felt free now that she didn’t have to deal with George and their relationship, or whatever it was that they had.
“It’s good here,” she smirked. “Well, it has its ups and downs and some of it is really just bazaar.” She shrugged. “Until about the time we met up I was a bloody mood ring, well my skin was.”
“Your skin was changing color? Does that happen often? Weird stuff, I mean,” she asked curiously.
“Almost every single day something odd is going to happen,” Alicia wasn’t really sure she was ready to go into the long list. “Just be ready for the unexpected.”
“Expect the unexpected. Got it.” Angelina nodded. “Are you happy here, Als?”
Alicia thought about it for a second. “Yeah,” she smiled softly. “I am happy here,” she was happy here. Alicia liked her life, she loved her friends and family here. “Now if I could just figure out my love life.”
She smiled warmly at her. She looked happy. Happier than she had seen her in a while. That made Angelina breathe a little easier. “Just kiss him. Or talk to him. Or both,” she chuckled.
Alicia laughed. “We’ll have to wait to see what happens.” She really wasn’t sure what she’d do when ie came to Erik, but she knew she would have to figure it out soon.
“You better keep me updated or I’ll kick your skinny ass,” she teased. “I’m very happy for you, Als. It’s good to see you’re happy.”
“Yeah, yeah, I’ll keep you updated,” she laughed. “And good luck trying to kick my arse.” Alicia was probably in the best shape she’d ever been and her fighting skills were much better.
“Oh why? Because you’ve been in so many missions you’re like Arnold Schwarzenegger?” she laughed, teasing her. She rolled her eyes at Alicia. “I can kick your ass anytime I want, Spinnet.”
“Wouldn’t be so sure Ange,” she shrugged taking a sip of her drink. “We should probably head back and find Katie, unless Mordy’s got her occupied,” she laughed.
“Let’s try and see. Tomorrow. Or the day after. And I’ll buy you lunch if you kick my ass, though I highly doubt it.” She nodded and finished her drink. “Let’s. And you can tell me more about this place and its weirdness.”
