THEO
MONTGOMERY
atlantis interviews by karen page - issue v
For the start of the second batch of interviews, we get going very similarly to the first time around. In more ways than one. Hopefully, you enjoy learning about my next interviewee as much as I enjoyed sitting down and speaking with her face-to-face.
KAREN PAGE: Hi, Theo! I really appreciate you taking the time to sit down with me today. It's been a little while since I've done the asking and answering part of preparing for these interviews, so let's get started? First off, what's your full name?
THEO MONTGOMERY: Theodosia Tanaka Montogmery.
KP: Oh, wow, that's so beautiful. Do you have a name preference or something you prefer to be called?
TM: I don't mind if people use Theodosia, but I typically introduce myself as Theo.
KP: How long have you been in Atlantis?
TM: It'll be two months on July 14th.
KP: Not long at all then; I know this place takes some getting used to. What place or world were you from before arriving in Atlantis?
TM: I suppose most people here would say it's the Harry Potter world, but I'm from England.
KP: Do you find that it's a world that people in Atlantis already know about, or do they recognize you?
TM: It's strange to know that people who aren't from my world are familiar with it, but I'm also told that Atlantis had a trip there once where everyone was sorted into different houses.
KP: I've heard a lot of stores about that too, but it was also before my time here. I'm sorry I missed it! Okay, a little personal, but: how old are you?
TM: I'm 27 years old.
KP: What sort of job did you have before coming here?
TM: I was working for a wizarding Ambassador, we were located in Tokyo.
KP: Oh, wow, that has to be very exciting. Is it different than what you're doing in Atlantis?
TM: A bit, yes. I was more of a diplomat back home and here in Atlantis I'm working at Intake. There are a lot of similarities, and a lot of differences as well.
KP: Here in Atlantis, are you in a relationship with anyone?
TM: No, I am currently single.
KP: Do you have any furry friends here?
TM: I do not, but I've been recently thinking about adopting a cat.
KP: You should! So many people here seem to have adopted animals at some point. What's the strangest moment that's happened to you in Atlantis so far?
TM: I'll go with the second strangest thing because I believe the first might have something to do with one of the current missions. The second are the experiences I've had at the Atlantis parties. It's strange not to be able to trust food or drink at these events.
KP: You definitely always have to be careful at any Atlantis party. What's been your best moment in Atlantis so far?
TM: The first time I rode a Pegasus. It was thrilling! It was also very terrifying because I am not a fan of heights, but I thought this would be a good way to try something new and to work on my fear.
KP: Riding a Pegasus was actually something of mine a friend used to help convince me to stick around after I first arrived. Do you have a worst moment here?
TM: I wouldn't say it's a moment, but I'm still homesick. I'm close with my mother so not being able to talk to her has been a struggle for me. I still have family and friends here, and that's helped a great deal.
KP: That has to be really hard. Missing the people we care about back home, even if they don't realize we're gone, is still hard no matter how long we're here, I think. Aside from the unexpected departures is there anything about Atlantis that you wish were different?
TM: I wish we could make requests for the people that arrive. Of course the way it's chosen now isn't terrible, but there are people that I miss and would like to see arrive.
KP: If you could change jobs in Atlantis, regardless of qualifications or skills, what would it be?
TM: I would say a diplomat position or a translator. I speak four languages and I always enjoy putting them to use.
KP: What's the piece of home you miss the most?
TM: My photo album and my book collection.
KP: Now here are a few just for fun: If you could have any superpower what would it be?
TM: I'd say either shape shifting into an animal or being able to talk to animals.
KP: Stay around here long enough, and you may get that wish!
If you could dis-invent one thing, what would it be?
TM: The Killing Curse.
KP: What did you dress up for Halloween last year?
TM: I don't dress up for Halloween. We don't celebrate Halloween the way muggles do. There may be some that will dress up for fun, but it's not a largely practiced tradition.
KP: What's something that you've tried, but that you'll never, ever try again?
TM: Firewhiskey. I am not a fan!
KP: I still haven't tried that one yet, and I need to soon. Do you have any tattoos?
TM: No, I don't.
KP: What's the most useless talent you have?
TM: This might sound strange, but I don't really think I have a talent that I would say is useless.
KP: Good answer. If you could be God for a day, what would be the first thing you'd do?
TM: Help as many people as possible, I imagine.
KP: Do you have a favorite article of clothing?
TM: It's an oversized gray pullover that I've had for years. It's one of the most comfortable articles of clothing that I own, but unfortunately it did follow me to Atlantis.
KP: What advice would you give to your younger self?
TM: Try not to dwell on what you wish your life was like and be thankful for what you have.
KP: Next, let's go for a little bit of 'this or that.' Go with your gut.
Dogs or cats?
TM: I do like both, but I feel cats fit my personality.
KP: Dine-in or delivery?
TM: Dine-in, but definitely delivery if I'm lazy or feeling uninspired.
KP:
KP: Beach or mountains?
TM: Both.
KP: Tea or coffee?
TM: Tea.
KP: Pancakes or waffles?
TM: Pancakes.
KP: Early bird or night owl?
TM: Early bird.
KP: Read the book or watch the movie?
TM: Always read the book! To be fair I don't often go into the muggle world and honestly I can't remember the last time I've seen a movie. I don't think I've even done that while I've been here.
KP: Method of transportation: Motorcycle or Pegasus?
TM: Pegasus, motorcycles make me nervous. Flying also makes me nervous but I'm never around muggle vehicles.
KP: Chocolate or vanilla?
TM: Chocolate.
KP: Beer or wine?
TM: Wine.
KP: Comedy or horror?
TM: Comedy, I scare easily.
KP: Party or couch?
TM: It honestly depends on my mood.
KP: That's exactly how I am too most of the time. Okay, a handful more to wrap things up. What's something about you that people in Atlantis probably don't know?
TM: I'm a romantic, and I have a large collection of romance novels back home.
KP: If the war ended today, would you choose to stay or leave?
TM: I think I would choose to go back home, but it's hard to say since it is very unlikely the war will end today.
KP: If you were to unexpectedly leave Atlantis, how do you want to be remembered?
TM: I hope that people enjoyed getting to know me and that my family and friends understand how much I care about them.
KP: Is there anything else you'd like to tell the rest of Atlantis?
TM: I'm enjoying my time here in Atlantis, and I want to thank everyone for being so kind and welcoming and I hope to continue to meet new people for as long as I'm here.
Thank you, Theo! That wraps up the second interview from those from the magical world of what most of us know as Harry Potter. And what's better, the two happen to be sisters, too. Coming up next we'll get to know one of the more bright minds of Atlantis and someone who happens to be from my home world.
Stay tuned for more Atlantis Interviews coming your way soon. ♠️
