Natasha Romanoff ✦ Steve Rogers
Steve has some news to share G Complete |
Steve had just finished some paperwork when he decided to pay a little visit to a certain friend. He headed to Natasha’s office and knocked on the door before letting himself in. “Hey, Nat,” he greeted her with a smile. “You busy?” Nat was also working on paperwork which was her least favorite part of the job but it had to be done when she heard the knock and looked up. “Hey, no please come in and save me from the monthly report. I need to be rescued.” “Well, your knight in shining armour has arrived, then,” he joked with a chuckle and sat down across from her. “I just finished with mine, so I feel your pain,” he said with a nod. Usually paperwork gave him headaches, but he’d been in a pretty good mood lately. “I hope you left your horse outside Sir Steve because I am not cleaning up after it,” she laughed. “So what’s up?” It was obvious that something was and that something had to be good because he looked happy. Not that he didn’t usually look happy, Steve was in a good mood most of the time but today there was something different. He shrugged and smiled. “Nothing. I just wanted to see my friend, I need to have a reason for that now?” He wanted to tell her about him and Peggy, but he didn’t know how to. And he had to admit making her guess could be fun. He was up to something and she knew it but what could it be. “No, you don’t need to have a reason but when you walk in looking like the cat that ate the canary, I’m curious. You should be careful about eating birds around here though because they might be someone that you know.” Steve laughed and nodded. “Alright, alright. I guess my poker face isn’t that good,” he chuckled. “Peggy and I had a date this past Friday,” he finally admitted, his lips curling into a smile. Every time he thought about it it put a smile on his face. Nat raised her eyebrows and then grinned. “Do tell,” she said. “It’s about time. I’ve been wondering when you’d get around to that. You’ve both come and gone a few times since I’ve been here and always seemed to miss each other when it came to that. I’m happy for you.” Nat knew that there would never be anyone else for Steve aside from Peggy just as she knew that no matter who else was in her life, her heart would always belong go Clint. “I’m guessing it went well?” “Thanks, Nat,” he smiled. “It went very well. We’re giving us a chance and I think it can work out,” he said with a small nod. There was no one else for him. It was and would always be Peggy for him. “That’s the thing about this place. It seems to be good about giving people a second chance or a chance period. At least when it’s not turning you into some kind of weird bird,” she smiled. “I have no doubt that the two of you will work things out. You’ve certainly waited long enough. You both deserve it, Steve. I’m happy for you.” He let out a small chuckle at the mention of turning into a bird. “Or a puppy,” he added. He still remembered that one like it was yesterday. “Thanks, Nat,” he smiled. She was right. This place gave everyone a second chance, and he planned to take full advantage of it with Peggy. “Wanna grab something to eat? Stay away from the paperwork a little longer?” “Yes absolutely. I’m hungry and this stuff isn’t going to go anywhere no matter how much I wish it would just disappear. Now that would be some awesome Atlantis magic. Make all the stupid paperwork go away. I wonder who we talk to about that?” “I’m sure you could talk to someone in the Magic Department and make that happen,” he said with a small chuckle. “Good plan, I should check that out,” she stood up and grabbed her phone and her wallet. “Let’s go before someone catches me laving and comes up with something I need to do.” She didn’t really expect that to happen but one never knew. |
