Alex didn’t have time to think as soon as the voice stopped talking and the pile of things appeared in front of them. She rushed to the pile and grabbed as many things as possible before running away from it. She wanted to put as much space as possible between her and the others to get herself together and think. She thought she heard some growling behind her, but she didn’t look back. She just kept running until she found herself out of breath and had to stop. Hopefully no one had followed her. They were in the Hunger Games world and that was scary. She knew what the arena was capable of doing to them, and what they could do to each other to survive. She didn’t want to think any of the people living in Atlantis was capable of killing anyone, but this were the Hunger Games. Your own survival was at risk and people tended to put themselves before others. She sat down between some palm trees and took a look at what she had gotten. Water and a filter, first aid kit, food kit, some kind of ranger kit and a multipurpose tool... “Not bad, Belikova,” she murmured. She ran her hands through her hair and sighed. She was on her own for now. And that was scary. She had never been on her own. Yes, she knew how to fight and she was pretty good at it, but this was different. Or at least it felt different. She suddenly felt so lost and alone. Jyn had no idea what world this was but she knew she didn’t like it. Having to fight for survival was nothing new for her but this was insane. The people that she’d come to know over her time here wouldn’t kill each other for what was probably nothing. COS had to be behind this because as crazy as Atlantis was, she couldn’t imagine it doing this. She managed to grab a few things and turned around to find a space to sit and gather herself. That’s when she spotted the girl sitting under the trees alone. Jyn knew what that felt like and she didn’t want her to have to sit and wonder what was happening. She hurried over to her and sat down, “Hi,” she said simply. “This is nuts. I’m Jyn.” Alex jumped startled when someone else came close to her. She hadn’t expected that, which wasn’t great in her opinion. She was supposed to be alert and ready to fight, not wallowing on her loneliness. However, this girl didn’t seem like she wanted to kill her. And probably she should really stop thinking everyone wanted to kill each other. Despite being in the Hunger Games world, these people weren’t like that. They wouldn’t turn on each other... She hoped. She ran her hand through her hair and smiled softly at her. “I’m Alex. It really is nuts. This world is crazy, and dangerous.” “I’m not familiar with it,” Jyn said. “I’ve never heard of any kind of Games that involves people trying to hurt each other to see who is left standing. War I can understand, I grew up in the middle of one but it was far from a game.” She’d been on her own more or less since she was six and she knew a thing or two about survival but she’d never been in a position where she knew the people who were trying to hurt her. “At least we know some of these people. I can’t remember their names but I know their faces, I don’t see anyone who looks homicidal.” Not yet anyway but she didn’t say that. “You got lucky at the pile it seems.” Alex seemed to have gotten a good amount of stuff. “We should put our things together and see what we have, maybe we can help out some people who weren’t so lucky.” “It’s a horrible world. Some people are basically trained since they’re kids to kill if they get chosen to be a Tribute. Hopefully no one here will be that way. I’d hate to think they are capable of hurting someone for the sake of winning.” She sighed and looked at Jyn. “But the arena is dangerous too. It can kill us, so we have to be careful if we hear or see anything strange.” She looked at her pile and nodded. “I tried to be fast,” she said with a small chuckle. “Sounds good,” she nodded. “And we should search for water and food. I have a water filter and a food kit.” “Well that’s a good start. I honestly don’t believe anyone here is capable of killing someone else but you never know I guess,” she’d killed before but in extreme circumstances and she wasn’t about to kill anyone here. “Let’s hope this doesn’t last very long and we can all go home.” “I don’t think anyone here is capable of doing it either,” she said. But then again, when it came to your own life or the others, it made people do things they weren’t capable of. “I hope so too, Jyn,” she said with a small smile. |
