For the most part, the day so far had been a normal one - or as normal as life ever was in Atlantis. Emily had woken up early to take Kona out for a walk and soon after left for work as normal. People and their caffeine addictions waited for no one whether they were in Rosewood or Atlantis. The weather was starting to warm up nicely, so once lunch time had come and gone, she finished helping clean up from the rush behind the counter before retreating to her office to finish up any last minute scheduling or paperwork that needed to be submitted. Thankfully, she’d already completed most of the schedules and busy-work earlier in the week, so it was only about an hour before she was checking out a few hours before she needed to be back to close up for the night.
The initial plan was to pick up Kona from the house and take her for a run through the park. It was still cool outside, but the sun was out and shining brightly in the sky. On her way, she pulled out her phone and texted Sara a quick ’what are you up to this afternoon?’ but soon after the text was sent, Emily felt a strange sensation come over her. Well, at first it felt strange. Moments later, she was smiling and giggling with delight. Everything around her seemed delightful in a way she’d never seen until now. Oddly, she practically felt whimsical as she changed her plans and skipped off towards the Base instead of home to pick up her dog.
Instead of a walk in the park with Kona, she had the best idea. She was going to stop by the armory and see what sort of fun gadgets and trinkets they had. Emily wasn't an agent; she'd never really be up to that task no matter how much she respected the military here and at home. The base simply wasn’t a place where she spent much time unless it was visiting Sara and watching her train or dropping off some coffee and snacks for some of the departments. So, even if she wasn’t a regular presence, she did know some of the faces that she passed in the hall. She smiled and waved, still practically skipping down the hallways. The elevator ride up to the appropriate floor was one of the best moments of her entire day. So many shining lights and delightful buttons. She even jumped up a bit in the air as the elevator dinged open for her.
The armory was one of the most secure locations in the base, but somehow she knew she was going to be able to get inside. To the person that greeted her when she stepped through the security doors, Emily smiled happily and stopped at the desk with a small bounce. “Hi! I left some cookies and pastries in the break room down the hall for everyone if you’d like some. Don’t worry - go on ahead. I’ll make sure the others know where to find them!”
Who wouldn’t trust such a friendly face? Practically fluttering down the hall, Emily paused to make sure the coast was clear before making a left turn down the interior to where the weapons were located. Once she was certain she was in the clear, she stepped inside and took in all that was there for the taking. They were all so shiny and pretty. Why not take some?
By the time she was finished filling up her messenger bag, she’d collected a few knives, a sword, a couple handguns, half a dozen grenades, a Medieval-looking helmet, and a shield that she decided to just carry out in front of her. With the helmet on her head, the sword sticking out of her bag, and the shield in one hand, Emily didn’t look the least bit inconspicuous, but she was enjoying every minute of her little adventure. That is, until the alarm went off as soon as she stepped outside the door. “Ooooh,” she said to herself in wonder and darted for the stairwell to make a quick getaway.
She somehow managed to make it out to the street without being stopped and started home to see what sort of fun she could could manage with her new toys.
