It had been a trying day. Sure, being a woman was great...once you had the appropriate clothes, and figured out the whole hair thing, and damn, did his powers even work in this body? As the initial shock faded, Billy found himself almost enjoying his transformation. For one, he'd never looked this good in a floral dress before. Two, he had an excuse to watch a whole bunch of makeup tutorials without anyone giving him a side-eye. Three, well, being a woman was kind of awesome???
Of course, there were downsides. He was running late to work because he'd spent over an hour trying to magic pockets into his dress. What sort of clothing didn't come attached with pockets? He was pretty sure that ought to have been a requirement. As he hurried through the streets of Atlantis, he passed the usual shops and businesses, most of which were busy with late afternoon customers.
“Woah,” Davina step out of the way as someone, wait, was that Billy? Nearly ran into her as he, or well, she was rushing down the street. It took her a moment to try and pinpoint who it was.
“Billy?” She asked with a scrunched up nose, she’d seen something about some people switching genders she just hadn’t paid all that much attention to who all it was that switched. She imagined it had to be a massive shock to whoever switched though.
Billy stopped at his name and turned back. "Uh, hey, Davina?" he said, in a voice much higher pitched than normal. He fidgeted with his hands, uncertain of how to say surprise, I'm a girl. Not that that really needed to be said. He figured that his hair, shorter height, and well, everything said more than he ever could. "Glad to see this isn't a universal transformation. Not that this isn't a scream, y'know?"
Davina couldn’t stop the smile, a bit of an amused smile. “Are you okay?” She asked tilting her head before looking him up and down. “Sorry, it’s just weird seeing people switch,” she stopped. “Do you need anything?”
"Besides my body back?" He smiled, a bit sheepishly. "It is pretty weird, but I dunno. I'm adapting. I mean, this is Atlantis. Got to be temporary, right?" He couldn't keep the hope out of his voice.
“It is Atlantis,” Davina agreed. “It shouldn’t last too long although if it does there will be a lot of quarrels.” She paused. “But really, I think you’ll change back in a day or two, nothing usually lasts longer than a week at the most.”
"Yea, you're probably right. Good thing I'm not ashamed to embrace my feminine side." He paused. "Really glad my boss probably won't notice."
Davina tilted her head curiously. “You don’t think your boss will notice?” She asked. She was pretty sure hers would if she switched genders but with Atlantis, things could go unnoticed. She remembered wanting to quarrel with everyone and even that just passed by without much problem.
Billy laughed softly. "My boss spends most of his time on the dance floor sampling our new porter. He'll definitely think this is just another creative twist for me."
Davina laughed with a nod. “Well, I guess that makes it a little easier,” she commented. “Well, I’ll let you get to work, but if you do end up needing anything let me know okay?”
"Absolutely," he said. "I guess there are worse ways to go out?"
