Violet made a habit of keeping her eyes peeled for anything strange. The first day on her first mission was a bit awkward at first but thankfully Violet felt as if she got her groove back. It had been a while since she had done anything productive as a superhero, she was so used to it back home. At least now she had a chance to help.
As she looked on she noticed something strange. Turning around he noticed Steve was nearby. “Hey, Steve.” She called. “Come take a look at this.”
Steve turned towards Violet’s voice and walked to her. “What’s up, Vi?” He asked as he changed the bat from hand to hand. He never went on a mission without it. One could never know when he would need to use it on someone or something.
“Take a look at this.” It was certainly green and she knew in her mind it was another anomaly but she couldn’t quite help herself but get closer and continue to stare at it. The next thing she knew, she wasn’t herself. Her mind...it was a bit hard to focus but she was definitely in the air flying, and she was happy. Very happy.
Steve’s eyebrows furrowed lightly for a moment as he saw the anomaly. Or at least it looked like one, only this one was green. He soon found himself relaxing the more he stared at it and suddenly, he heard the sound of the bat hitting the ground. And he felt light, and happy.
He looked at Violet and saw she had been turned into a hummingbird. And by the looks of it he had too. Well, that was a little bit of an inconvenience, but he didn’t care at that moment. Because he felt very happy.
Violet flew around and there was something in the back of her mind trying to get her attention, but currently Violet didn’t really care. The green anomaly, now that was something she cared about. Or at least she still felt herself drawn to it. She flew to Steve, trying to get his attention and then flew in and out of the green anomaly freely. It was like going into two different worlds and it was wonderful.
Steve followed Violet in and out of the green anomaly. It was so strange yet so beautiful. And amazing, too, how two worlds could be one step away from each other. He looked over at Violet and smiled in his head. Even as a hummingbird she was still beautiful. He flew around her, trying to catch her attention.
Violet was lost in her head for a moment before noticing that Steve was trying to get her attention. She circled around before flying over to his side.
Steve smiled in his head and nodded toward the anomaly and flew again in and out of it before flying around Violet. He had never felt so happy in his life as he did.
Violet turned this way and that as she followed Steve in and out of the anomaly. Once she was inside of the anomaly she flew around a bit before going to Steve’s side once more. She wanted him to follow her deeper into the anomaly, she wanted to explore it more and so she took off, not fast, just enough for Steve to follow as she tried to go further.
Steve was lost in the happiness he was feeling, in how beautiful the world inside the anomaly was, that it took him a couple of moments to realize what Violet was doing. Quickly, he flew to her and gently pushed her back so she wouldn’t go too far. The last thing they wanted is to get lost or trapped in the anomaly.
Violet wondered for a moment why Steve tried to stop her. Didn’t he want to go in? Weren’t they having a good time together? Something inside of her told her to listen to him and it slowly kicked that they could be in very real trouble. Slowly she went back down to the ground and turned back into her old self. The problem was that she and Steve were still in the anomaly. “Steve?” She said a little worried.
Steve was distracted for a moment by a deer who seemed to nod at him. That was... odd. He shrugged and heard Violet’s voice calling him. He quickly turned around and left the anomaly.
As soon as his human feet hit the ground, the anomaly seemed to close behind him. “That was... interesting.”
As Violet stared and waited she noticed the deer but also an antelope and a dove. They all stared at one another and once nodded she could feel herself movie out of the anomaly and watched it close.
“Yeah.” She replied a little shakily. “Come on. We should tell the others.”
