If only knowing something was a weird Atlantis thing was enough to stop yourself from doing something stupid. Leonard might have been tempted to just stay home and avoid the world today, but he had things to do, people to see and today he had a lunch with Hilary Becker. They’d been “brothers” in Breckentale and even though he and Nat weren’t people Leonard was really related to, he made an effort to get together with them now and then since getting back.
He did not, normally, engulf his brother from another reality in a tight hug and hold on as if he didn’t want to let go, but today that’s just what he did when the other man stood to greet him.
Right. Lunch. Becker had nearly forgotten, the current mission and the added complications it put on his relationship with Octavia were making it a little bit hard for him to focus on things that didn’t involve well work, and without Octavia around to pester him to remember about things like lunch, it didn’t help.
He’d remembered a moment late but was quick enough to get to where they were meeting without being more than a minute late. He was expecting McCoy to mention it, but instead, he was attacked. Yes. Attacked.
“Oof.” he let out moving his fingers noticing his arms pinned down by his sides, he could fight if he wanted to, but instead he let his arms be trapped by his sides. “Is this a medical technique I missed a memo on?” He finally asked after a moment.
“Damn Atlantis,” Leonard muttered, stepping back as a hot blush crept over his face. They didn’t do this touchy feely huggy crap and he knew Becker was not going to ever let him hear the end of this.
“No,” he grumbled, forcing himself to step back and fight the constant urge to cuddle. “It’s definitely not a new medical technique.”
Keeping a game face on Becker nodded. It took some effort not to laugh or tease him a little bit more. Instead, he pointed at the table where they could sit and be somewhat normal.
“Is this an Atlantis thing I should send a team to investigate?” He asked looking fully serious. “A team specializing in attack hugs?”
Becker was having way too much damn fun with this. Leonard scowled at him as he shook his head. “You damn well know the answer to that!” he said as he fought the urge to hug his not-really-brother again and took a set at the table.
“I need a goddamn drink.”
Becker pulled out his tablet. “Team 16 is in town, between Hawke, Bell and Salvatore, they are a huggy bunch, I can set them out on it right now.” He didn’t look up as he started to type a note.
Looking up he raised an eyebrow. “Taking the day off?” It was more of a suggestion.
Leonard kind of half glared at the man, huffing softly. “Not a bad idea,” he agreed to taking the day off at least. He did not want to run the risk of trying to cuddle his patients.
“I’m gonna laugh when this shit happens to you.”
Becker held his hands up. “Do I look like I’m laughing,” he managed to keep a serious expression. “But taking the rest of the day off would be a good idea.” He put his hands down. “Let’s order, try not to hug the waiter, wouldn’t want to have to explain...”
Leonard glared at his not-quite-brother, but nodded as he picked up a menu. This was going to be a long damn day.
