Cisco Ramon ✦ Lorna Ramon
Cisco has something to tell Lorna G Complete |
Cisco sat at a table in Stone, waiting for his daughter to arrive. His daughter. Sometimes he still had trouble with the fact that he actually had a daughter and with Fred whom he liked a lot but had never been interested in romantically. Things were different in the future though or at least in one version of it and they had had Lorna. He knew that he had fallen short when it came to establishing a relationship with her and he wanted that to change. Cisco loved her, that wasn’t in question, but with his father gone from his life before he ever got the chance to know him, he didn’t exactly know how to be a father. He wanted to change that and this was how he was going to start. He was asking Lavender to marry him on Christmas Eve and he wanted to tell Lorna himself, not hear it from someone else or see it posted on the network. The two knew each other and liked each other but this would be a change in their relationship even if it seemed weird considering that they were all pretty much the same age. He was glancing over the menu although he pretty much knew it by heart when he saw her come in and he smiled and waved her over. “Hey,” he said when she sat down. “How’s your day been going?” One thing Lorna probably did too much of was not push for relationships, she usually didn’t want to because she could feel what others were feeling and knew if it was too much for them or not. She was a little surprised when her father wanted to meet at Stone. She’d agreed quickly and even made Phil make sure she looked like a responsible daughter before she went to meet him. Smiling when she saw him she headed over quickly and smiled taking her seat being unsure if she should hug him or not. “It good, a little surprised by the pair of skis in my room this morning, and this weather!” She spoke quickly as she pointed outside to the blizzard out there. “What about you?” “You got skis? This place never ceases to amaze me. I got a snowboard and I have never been on one in my life. A skateboard but that was a long time ago.” He’d also nearly killed himself since Cisco was a lot of thing but athletic wasn’t one of them. Although a skateboard was more coordination than athleticism he supposed. “Thanks for meeting me. I’m sorry I haven’t been in touch more, I just…..well I didn’t know how you felt about it and this is still pretty new for both of us. I saw that one of your friends from home is here. That must be nice.” He wished that some of his friends would show up especially now with what he was planning to do but since Caitlin had gone home, there hadn’t been anyone from anywhere in their world arrive. Lorna nodded. “I’ve skied a couple of times, but not on fancy skis.” The skis she’d been on where pretty much dead, dents, a bend in one but they were all they had. Lorna nodded, she wasn’t really sure how to react to it. “It’s okay, I understand.” Is what she managed to say. “Yeah, there are a few people from home now, which is amazing, but I know most of them will probably go back, not that I blame them, I’ll just miss them.” She would too. “I guess it’s a December thing with Atlantis, bringing people from other places.” Lorna smiled. “So, was there something on your mind?” Having an empath for a daughter was a big an adjustment as having a daughter, period. It never felt like she was invading his head but she knew what he was feeling and Cisco could only imagine was kind of signals he was giving out at the moment. “Actually, yes, there was something on my mind,” he said and took a quick sip of the water that was sitting in front of him since his mouth had suddenly gone dry. “I wanted to talk to you and tell you that I’m going to ask Lavender to marry me. I’m planning to do it on Christmas Eve and I’m trying not to panic,” he gave a little laugh. “I hope she says yes. I wanted to talk to you though and tell you in person, I didn’t want you to find out after the fact.I want us to be more involved in each other’s lives, it’s something I’ve been thinking about a lot lately. My father wasn’t around and I’d like things to be different even though this is not exactly traditional.” If she were honest with herself there were some mixed feelings, the fact her parents would never get together and the likelihood of her ever being born was inching towards zero in this world was weird to think about, but she pushed it away and didn’t even show a hint of anything other than a bright smile and happiness. “I think that’s fantastic! Did you get a ring already?” She asked focusing on the good news. “I know this isn’t exactly a normal situation, and I understand it’s complicated, but I would like a better relationship with you.” She admitted. “I did get a ring,” he said. “I went with something a little non traditional so I hope she likes it.” The person at the jewelry store had told him that a lot people were choosing stones other than diamonds for their engagement rings now so he’d gone with an amethyst with diamond accents. He was happy to hear her say that she wanted a better relationship with him because he hadn’t been sure how she felt. There was also the fact that she came from a different timeline so how would her being both here and there affect that? Cisco had no idea even though he’d tried to work it out. For now, he just wanted to focus on the present. “I want the same thing. It’s not your typical family but nothing around here is typical. I mean the fact that we’re all here is proof of that.” “Lavender is the kind of person that would like a nontraditional type of ring,” Lorna said encouragingly. Lavender seemed to be someone who liked things that were stylish but a little bit different too. “Atlantis isn’t your typical kind of place either.” Lorna pointed out. “It’s different, but that doesn’t mean it’s bad, it just means it’s different.” She meant it too, she wasn’t too worried about it not being traditional as much as she was worried about it being nothing at all. “No it’s not and I like it that way if you want to know the truth. Ever since the particle accelerator back home exploded, life hasn’t exactly been typical. I might have forgotten how to live a normal life,” he smiled. Breckentale had felt normal but it wasn’t at all. It was all a manifestation of this place. He turned back to the subject of the ring. “I agree. I have a pretty good idea of what I’m going to get, I got her ring size when Parvati was here the first time so at least it will fit.” Lorna smiled with a nod, her life had never been normal or typical or anything. Part of her wished that Breckentale was real but she knew deep down that long term she wouldn’t want that. “I’m sure she’s going to love it, and I’m fairly positive that she’ll say yes.” Lorna could feel how they felt about each other after all. “I hope so. I’d feel like a real schmuck if she didn’t,” he said although he didn’t really think Lavender would say no. “I’m glad you like her. I know this whole thing…..us I mean...is kind of new but I want us to be a family, whatever kind of family that turns out to be here.” Cisco had different ideas about family as it was. Team Flash was as much if not more his family than his actual family. He’d never been close to his mother or his brother but they’d been working on their relationship but Dante had died before that could really happen. “She’ll say yes,” Lorna said again hoping he believed her. “Families come in all different shapes, I think we’ll figure it out.” Lorna did too, even if it was a little awkward for a while it would eventually work out and she knew Lavender wanted everyone to be happy too and that helped. |
