Angelus. She had to fight back a laugh when she heard that name. How lame was that? Angelus. It certainly didn't sound very menacing; but as soon as the conversation shifted to whether or not he'd hurt anyone, Buffy's slight smirk disappeared into a frown. She supposed she could understand why they'd taken his soul from him - if it was an apocalypse they were talking about, people were going to get hurt either way. It was just hard to picture Angel being malicious and acting like a vampire that she would've had to stake. He was so...well, Angel. Then again, that was supposedly what a soul did for you - gave you a conscience and empathy for others. Things that no soulless vampires she had ever seen seemed to have going for them. The fact that they had to lock him up made her wonder just how bad he truly was without his soul. She hoped that she never had to find out because knowing that he was capable of hurting people? Well, that was an open and shut case on what she had to do, wasn't it? She made a mental note to look up this Angelus person before even looking into herself.
Trying to break the awkwardness, Buffy laughed slightly and said, "Guess it's nice to know that Sunnydale isn't the only place where apocalypses seem to happen on the regular." She paused for a moment before shrugging and nodding to herself. "L.A. makes sense, actually."
She couldn't help but smile a little, both at Giles being okay and the notion that another watcher was needed to help out. She knew she wasn't exactly the easiest to train and deal with but more than one watcher? She was a little impressed with herself. She couldn't ever see Giles quitting or retiring...being a watcher was his whole thing. What else could he possibly be? So it must have had something to do with her, right? Impressed though she was, she felt a little guilty as well for having apparently given Giles such a hard time. Really, he didn't deserve it and if she ever went back home, she might actually go so far as to give him a hug or something. Well, maybe a firm handshake. He didn't seem like much of a hugger.
Leaning forward, elbows on the table, Buffy's eyes widened slightly as she laughed out loud at the notion of her going to college. How was that possible? The only times she'd ever thought about college had to do with the boys and the parties, not the academics. Then again, maybe she was giving herself too much credit - maybe that's why she went in the first place. "That's so crazy. It feels like it's so far away, like it'll never happen. Especially in Sunnydale but...I guess I'm really glad that it does." Shifting again in her seat at the mention of Angel leaving, she nodded a bit and glanced down at her lap. "Well, at least he hung around long enough for it to be super-creepy," she quipped before pausing and adding, "Though, really old vampire...probably always at least a little creepy."
Closing her mouth, she put her hands back in her lap and laughed a little again, this time a bit more forced than before. "Not that there was anything creepy going on! Or ever would be. Ever." Buffy took a sharp inhale of breath and glanced up at Fred, lowering her voice as if someone she didn't want to might actually hear her question. "Did it...ever get creepy? That you know of, I mean. If you don't know, it's okay! I was just...I don't know why I'm wondering. It's not like it really matters now, right?"
