After having looked over at the fridge area several times to see Peter Pevensie standing there each time, Evie finally decided to walk over there and see what was going on. She approached with a bright smile and a cookie in hand. “Everything all right Peter?”
“Er...” Peter looked awkwardly upward to the magical pant hanging above his head and he might have shuffled his feet if he could have actually moved. “I seem to be a bit [...] stuck,” he admitted, looking a little sheepish.
Already expecting the mistletoe hanging over his head, Evie looked up. There it was. “Oh!” She chuckled. At this point Evie was nothing if not seasoned at mistletoe liaisons. She still blushed as she asked: “Well, would you like me to release you?”
Peter’s ears were tinged with pink as he processed her question. Kissing strangers wasn’t his way, usually, and not that Evie was precisely a stranger - she was his roommate and perhaps his friend -but it didn’t feel the right way to go about things.
“Yes,” he admitted, not without some difficulty, as it involved swallowing his pride and perhaps pushing aside his own high moral standards. “I don’t fancy spending the entire evening in your kitchen,” he added, lest she think his quick and blunt response were about something more untoward.
Evie nodded, a smile of commiseration on her face. “This has happened to me more times than I would have thought possible this week.” She revealed with a sigh, somewhat as an excuse for her nonchalance towards Peter’s situation. She could tell, however, that it wasn’t at all the same for Peter. “It’s all right. I can simply kiss you on the cheek and hope it’s enough, shall I?”
Without waiting, Evie stood on the tip of her toes and pressed a kiss to Peter’s cheek, smiling warmly as she pulled away.
Peter suspected there were many others in Atlantis who didn’t mind randomly kissing whoever they happened to meet under the mistletoe, but he was grateful that Evie understood his reluctance. She was an incredible woman and he liked her a great deal, but even after the strange occurences of Atlantis, some of which had led him to believe he was in love with people he barely knew at all, he was still rather old fashioned compared to some others.
“Thank you,” he said, relieved to find he could move once she’d kissed his cheek. “You’re a lifesaver, Evie.”
When it was clear that Peter could move Evie grinned, pleased with having helped without sacrificing his comfort. “Not at all! Now come warm up, it can’t have been nice standing near the cold box all this time.” She said, nudging him gently towards the fireplace with one hand while she ate her cookie with the other.
