ELIOT WAUGH ✦ KYNA HANSON-MALCOLM-WAUGH ✦ IAN MALCOLM ✦ MARGO HANSON (for a bit)
HI PARENTS IT IS I, YOUR GREATEST ACHIEVEMENT PG COMPLETE |
Kyna was excited. As with most things, she had rolled with this sudden return to a past before she was born. There wasn’t much she was adamantly against rolling with, and a chance to meet and spent time with her parents way before she knew them sounded like just the kind of weird fun she liked. It was even made better by knowing all of her Magician friends and her sister Astrid had come too. Of course it had occurred to her that this was going to be extremely weird for her parents, who probably had no idea she was ever going to be a thing. The curious part of her wondered just how being spoiled for their own future would change it, because it was inevitable. Hopefully, though, they wouldn’t all spoil themselves out of existence. Dad Ian would probably love that, she realized. Speaking of which, here they came, unbelievably young and spry but every bit as amazing looking as she’d known to expect. Kyna greeted them with a wide grin and a couple of excited hops. “Hiii!” This wasn’t really the first time Ian had been unexpectedly thrust into fatherhood. He was an old pro at it, in fact. Still, this was a novelty because of the names linked to his in relation to this apparent future child. Margo and Eliot were two of his favorite people in Atlantis, and he’d built a kinship with them in the time since his arrival that he very much enjoyed. A child was a new level for them, though, and he’d spent a few moments in shock before he’d been unable to resist laughing. Go figure. He was curious as they made their way to Intake to meet this daughter of theirs — curious and amused, and very much surprised. He kept an eye on Eliot and Margo, ready to take the lead in the situation should they find themselves too overwhelmed to do so, but it was easy to get distracted instead by the grinning young lady who came into their line of sight. “My god,” he said, delight on his face, instantly melting at the sight of her. Stubborn and opinionated as he was, Ian was a pushover for his children, and it took no time at all for him to claim her as his own. “Look at you!” Margo had, as of yet, not entirely mentioned the fact that she well, she had a few things to handle with this whole situation and she had sort of only first gone along with Ian and Eliot because - oh well, because she could leave this… child in well, safe hands. Apparently, the other paternal figure she apparently would have to fucking trust in the future was you know - off. Off doing exciting things on islands or whatever the hell they’d told her about the mission that she hadn’t actually listened to. Technicalities, or whatever. “Yeah, definitely mine.” She said walking up, giving Kyna a sort of once over before giving herself a little side node of appreciation. “Definitely.” She said, clearing her throat and pulling her phone out, “OH well… hate, even might loathe to run so quickly but…” She paused, making a little face,”...work calls.” She said, knowing full and well it was a shoddy excuse given that Eliot shared her exact job. Putting a little hand on Eliot’s bicep and looking over to Ian, “Plus, you two have way more experience.” She joked, giving Kyna one more little look of being too obviously pleased before taking a few steps back, “I will… magically reappear at some point.” She noted before slipping away. “Minx,” Eliot muttered to Margo lovingly as she slipped out, until he finally turned his attention back to the person that was 100% theirs. Holy fuck. He had just gotten done telling Fray a few days before that he only had two children, and here they were, arriving in masses. How many more was she hiding behind her? A dozen? Two? That dramatic train of thought as he situated himself behind Ian, head on the older man’s shoulder. “I think I’m going to need to make a dozen more cocktails than I already planned. Are you hiding any more behind you?” Dad Ian's excitement immediately upon seeing her warmed Kyna's heart, though she had the presence of mind not to jump into his arms like she did nowadays whenever they saw each other. Daddy's girl? Kyna? Nah. She was an equal opportunity daughter. Spoiled by all. She did, however, do a little twirl, arms out and everything. Kyna had to admit the way her mother presented herself upon this 'first contact' was admirable, if perhaps intentionally intimidating. It didn't work, of course, but Margo had no way of knowing that yet. As she got the approving once-over Kyna gave her mom a smug smirk, which then turned into pure amusement as mom tried to pretend she was leaving for work instead of probably going to greet Astrid. "Yep, see you in a bit, tell my sister I said hi." And then there was Dad Eliot, being cute. Kyna tilted her head, smiling fondly at him. "Oh yeah we're all here, all fifty-five of us." She joked. "So anyway, hi, I'm Kyna. I'm your daughter, you're welcome and good job." Ian was still beaming throughout the other exchanges, and watched Margo move off with amusement before tilting his head just a bit to rest it against Eliot’s. There was something unique about getting to see a child all grown up for the first time, and his heart was warm at the sight. It made him miss his other children even more, but he couldn’t focus on that right now, not with Kyna in front of them. He reached to take her hand once she’d finished her twirl, pressing an affectionate kiss to her knuckle, a laugh escaping him at her words. “I suppose it’d be impossible for you to be anything but sassy and confident.” He turned his chin a bit, addressing Eliot. “Christ, I can’t tell if she looks more like you or Margo. Look at her. She’s gorgeous.” “Margo, definitely.” And, at least she had their fabulous fashion sense, Eliot gave her a judging once-over with a smile. He finally blew out a breath and then moved forward, having built up his five minutes of bravery to an appropriate level. He was about to pull her into a hug, then gave pause and stopped mid-way, looking around awkwardly. “Wait, is it okay to hug you? Do we have a hugging sort of relationship? I’m a good dad, right? Tell me I’m a good dad.” At this rate, Ian was going to have to kick the back of his leg. Kyna received the affectionate knuckle kiss with clear endearment, and then chuckled lightly at her dad's assessment of her personality. "God, can you imagine the disappointment if I were anything but?" It was adorable to watch her two dads discuss her with such pride, but Kyna had to disagree. "I look like all of you. Where do you think I got the love for all this leather?" She asked Ian, tugging at the lapel of her fleece-lined leather jacket. Then, she looked at Eliot. "And let's face it, this nose is more yours." Also close to diving into a hug, Kyna stopped when Eliot did, one eyebrow raised as she observed him. Whispering an exasperated "Oh my God" Kyna decided to respond to Eliot's question by hopping up and pulling him into a tight hug anyway. Then, she gestured for Ian to join. "Of course you are! You're the best dads, mom's the best mom, I'm the best daughter. Don't tell Astrid or Fray I said that." Ian did not kick Eliot, but he did laugh from behind him, shaking his head a bit. “Mentioning your obvious fashion triumphs was next on my list, don’t you worry,” he said, observing her jacket with pride and amusement. “You’re definitely right about the nose. It’s all Eliot, all the way.” He beamed at the way she embraced Eliot, and was quick to join them. Hug accomplished, he kept an arm around Eliot, and her hand in his. “You’ve got to tell us everything. The future is clearly unimpacted by spoilers here anyway, and I’m curious as hell. I want to know everything about you.” Family hug now out of the way, Eliot was feeling a little delirious. For a man that didn’t expect to have any, three in under six months popping up was… well, a thing. A thing his brain still had to cope with. But at least while completely sober, his brain could catch up a little faster. Thank fuck Ian had his shit together and was good with this. “Fray’s going to have a complex, go easy on her? We just worked through a few things, and she’s sixteen. Sooo--” Eliot swallowed the heavy lump in his throat and gave her a beaming grin. “You look amazing, though, and like you have your shit together, which is another bonus to go with everything, because even if you don’t, you’re clearly an actor of amazing talents.” “We go shopping for leather jackets a lot.” Kyna revealed, giving Ian a wink. It was one of their favorite activities after all, at least of the ones that didn’t involve absolute nerdery. As she was one of her own favorite subjects too (at least around the parents) Kyna nodded effusively at Ian’s request to be told everything. But then, Eliot got serious, and so she had to put a pin on that to address his worries. She put a calming hand on his shoulder. “I get it. I’d never do anything to hurt her, okay? I can curb my excitement and my… everything else.” Running her fingers through her hair, she beamed. “I do! I have my shit entirely together, I think. I’m in college, I’m a Magician, I throw a great party and I look like this.” Taking Eliot’s hand like she’d taken Ian’s, Kyna started towards the exit. “Is it okay if we blow this joint? I kind of wanna sit down somewhere nicer, spoil you all rotten. Mom and Astrid can find us later. Oh, right - Astrid’s my older sister, from when mom banged Thor. I like to think the power went out that night.” “Just when I think this day couldn’t be more hilarious, you drop a ‘Margo banged Thor and had a baby’ bomb on us,” Ian responded, laughing again, shaking his head. Thoroughly unsurprised. “I’m just fine with escaping. You lead the way, little one. I have no preferences other than spending more time with you.” Eliot was always good with being dragged along, and let his feet shuffle behind his lover and daughter. “This is all you, dear, I’m going to be in a haze for at least three days.” Maybe more, knowing Eliot and his flair for the dramatics. He smacked Ian on the rear as they went through the doorway. “I think the most surprising thing I have to get used to is the fact that managed to convince Margo to have not one, but two children. This place truly is a miracle.” |
