Josephine hadn't been sure what was going on lately. All she knew was that it had always been her job to keep her family whole. She hadn't been able to do it for her own little family, but her brothers, she could keep things together for them. It had been difficult, but she stll managed it. She was still trying to manage it. It had been why she'd tried to calm Nate down when he messaged her asking if the two of them were actually siblings. Josephine had already lost the father of her child, as well as the child himself, so she wasn't trying to lose anymore family. In this instance, that included Neal. After all, before Rick, she'd harbored feelings for the redheaded man. During and after Rick, however, he'd been a friend she could trust and someone she'd always been able to talk to. To be honest, Josephine felt horrible about unleashing on Neal whenever he'd come to her asking if she was herself. He'd needed to talk to and, in a fit of frustration and uncertainty (two things she hated feeling), she'd unloaded all of her insecurities on the man who had been nothing but a friend to her. Now she was waiting on him at the Tipsy Lizard, hoping he'd talk to her, hoping they could figure this out together. Hoping she could help him. Taking a drink of her beer, she had his sitting across the table from her, waiting on him as well. There was too much going on in her mind. And if her mind was anything like his, then he was probably going a little nuts himself. This wasn't a date. It was a straight up meeting between two friends who had never gone beyond that. Two friends who trusted each other enough to talk to each other and be there for one another. It was a familiar feeling, though Josephine wasn't certain why. She could count who she trusted on one hand, really. Maybe it had something to do with this whole memory thing everyone was up in arms about. |
