Alex woke up with her new little kitten curled up next to her chest. She smiled and scratched her little ears, making her purr and stretch. “Good morning, Ava,” she murmured. She had chosen the name of one her favorite classic actresses, Ava Garner, for the little kitty and she seemed to love it. She kissed Ava’s little head and got up from the warmth of her bed and straight into the shower to start the day. It might have been Labor Day, but that didn’t mean she wasn’t going to do what she did every morning. Rina was a little OCD with her morning routine. Once she was out of the shower and ready for the day, she headed to the kitchen and started making breakfast for her and her sister. She glanced at her room and saw her sleeping form still in bed, so she guessed Zasha was sleeping in today. Oh well, she’d still get her breakfast set up for whenever she decided to wake up. Rina lost track of time as she began to read a book while ate her breakfast. When she realized, almost three hours had passed since she made breakfast. Her brows furrowed a little as she looked at her sister’s room as she hadn’t even move from the same position in bed. She decided it was time to check on her. “Wakey wakey, Zasha,” she said softly as she sat down next to her in bed and shook her shoulder a little. No response. She shook her a little harder. “Zasha, wake up, come on.” And again no response. Okay, now she was starting to worry. She shook her younger sister a lot harder and nothing. Any normal person would’ve woken up by now, but Zasha wasn’t and that was worrying Rina a lot. She checked her pulse and her breathing and they were okay... Then why wasn’t she waking up? She didn’t think it twice and called 911. ——- Rina hugged herself as she looked at the doctors running tests on her sister. They had actually told her to step back because the doctor in her kept telling them to try this and that, to run this test or the other. While waiting for the news, she had called her parents to let them know what was happening, as well as texting her siblings, Dellie and Andrew. She kept walking up and down the hall, trying to keep as much of a cold head as possible and not freak out even though her mind kept going about all the possible things that could be happening to Zasha and none of them were good. She had just finished the last text when a nurse came up to her and told her Zasha was in a coma and they didn’t know when she would wake up. Rina had to sit down when she got the news. Her little sister was in a coma. How could that happen? She was perfectly healthy yesterday night! She asked them how was that possible, but right now they didn't have an answer for her. She was perfectly healthy, they told her, but somehow she had fallen into a coma. |
