The cool breeze that swept off the ocean's surface, gliding across the sandy beaches, and up the verdant hills, was lost on the lone figure standing at the edge of the secluded restaurant patio; gazing deep into the emptiness of the sea. The thick, heavy, black suit of armor hung and clung to each muscle, keeping the figure from touching the true world; even the air he breathed was processed, forced into his lungs, keeping him alive with that signature heaving. The sound filled the dark room. A simple mind trick had convinced the owner to let Vader stay even past closing. Not that the trick would have been necessary--it was obvious that Vader intimidated many. The Sith wanted to be alone with his thoughts; something he'd come to expect in life, even here. When he wasn't being jeered or squabbled with, he was being ignored or avoided. He understood why, of course, Anakin was not naive. He knew the terrible things he did, he knew that his reputation preceded him. There was no getting past that now. There never would be. No one would ever forgive Anakin, and frankly, he wasn't entirely sure that he wanted forgiveness. He wasn't exactly deserving of it. The stoic facade of his helmet watched the dark swirls of the water, the starlight beaming off of the tops of the waves, and was reminded of Naboo, of Padme, and what heart he had felt a sharp pain. He swallowed back the emotion, something he'd grown used to over the decades, and felt his fists clench as he pushed it back. Again, he was certain he'd never be deserving of forgiveness. Turning his head slightly at the sound of a door opening, Vader reached out in the Force to feel the presence, before lifting his voice, "Do not fret, I will not harm you." Feeling the warning was necessary. |
