“I’m so glad we were able to get out for the afternoon!” Lavender exclaimed, clearly happy to be enjoying a nice afternoon out with her best friend. Not that much time had passed between their last outing. There have been times where she might have been too busy or made other plans, but Lavender always made sure that her best friend knew that she was a priority. It had always been that way for Lavender, minus the dark times that Lavender didn’t count.
Turning her head, she smiled at her friend. “Do you just want to walk around for a while or do you have a destination in mind?”
Parvati was happy to get out of the shop for a while. It was doing well and her designs had taken off. She still had other merchandise but eventually she hoped to be exclusively selling her own things. It was also nice that she had some employees that she knew could handle things so she didn’t have to feel guilty about taking the afternoon off.
“Let’s go get some lemonade and go sit at one of those tables where you can see the beach,” she said. “It’s a beautiful day and people watching around here is never boring.”
“Good idea.” Lemonade did sound delicious and Lavender was always up for the view of the beach. It was one of the best things about living in Atlantis, there were some days where it did feel like a nice getaway.
Getting their lemonade didn’t take long at all and when they were able to pick out a spot, Lavender grinned. “Perfect. Nice view of the beach and I wouldn’t be surprised if we see something strange going on. It always feels like there’s something doesn’t it? Makes you wonder if we’ve ever truly had a day without something weird happening in this place.”
“At least being part of the wizarding world back home prepared us for some of the strange things that happen here. I can only imagine what the Muggles must thing,” she took a sip of her lemonade and shook her head. “I still can’t believe there are aliens here and vampires and things I only ever read about in books.” She loved it though, it was a whole new world and there was only one thing that was missing. “I wish Padma was were,”she said with a sigh. “She’d love all this.”
“That is very true.” Lavender replied with a nod. When Parvati mentioned Padma, she gave her friend a sad smile. “I know. I keep hoping that her name will pop up. I know how much you miss her. I miss her too.” Padma being Parvati’s twin, meant that she was just as involved in her life as Parvati. They didn’t always get to hang out and Padma had her own friends, but Lavender had always liked her and missed her a great deal. “Have you met anyone new here? Making any friends?” Lavender asked doing her best mom impression.
“I’ve made a few friends, yes. Some of my regular customers are quite pleasant and we’ve gone out for coffee a few times. As for meeting someone….” she shrugged. “I’ve had no luck in that department. I think I’m the only person who didn’t hook up at the Summer Solstice Party. I mean I kissed some guys but you know how it was, it was insane and I have no idea who they were and none of them tried to find me later so I guess it was just Atlantis stuff. They probably all had girlfriends or wives or whatever.”
Lavender smiled, pleased that Parvati was making friends. Her head tilted to the right slightly as she continued to listen. “Well that’s just ridiculous.” Lavender replied, shaking her head. “You’re gorgeous, smart and fun. I’m sure there are more single guys around.” Lavender looked at her friend, thinking that they just need to put Parvati in their eyesight. Everyone gets so preoccupied with the missions and all the weirdness. She stared off into space as she thought of different ideas. Then grinned, turning back to Parvati. “I have an idea!”
“Should I be afraid?” Parvati laughed. You never knew with Lavender. “Okay what is it?” She knew her friend wanted to help and she was curious to see what she had in mind.
Grinning madly, Lavender stood up from her seat, drink still in hand. “Well I think it’s time we have a little fun with modeling!” Parvati was gorgeous and Lavender put up a good picture of her friend, surely it would bring out a few possibilities. Not that either of them viewed dating as to be the number one priority, but a date with a good guy never hurt anyone! “You in?”
“Okay, sure, why not? Let’s see what you can come up with.” She picked up her own lemonade and gave a little curtsey. I am in your hands, Lavender.”
