“What gave it away?” Of course he was skeptical. He felt like there might be more to this place than what they were being told. And Chloe obviously felt the same way. “I don’t know.” He really didn’t and he didn’t like that. “Funny how it came at just the right time for you.” He glanced over at her. “You think they could have sprung for an apartment…” Something adults can actually live in.
Well, now the conversation about Trixie and adults things was just boring now. It was more fun when it was getting under Chloe’s skin.
“No, we really weren’t.” He wished somebody could give them more information, but he had noticed that anyone asking questions on the network were mostly getting ignored, which meant nobody really knew much. “Of course I am.” He looked over at Chloe and smiled is usual smile.
“I am not a child. I can eat properly.” Just because he didn’t find the appeal of some waffle house, didn’t mean it was because he was afraid of getting dirty. If only he could count how many suits have been ruined, especially since he started working with Chloe. “That’s the way to look at it.” If she can do it here, he can do anything here as well. “I don’t know if they do, but we’re about to find out.”
Once they were seated and given the menu, he started looking through it. “Oh look,” he said a moment later, “they have your pancakes.”
