John was settling into Atlantis life pretty well. He’d made a few friends here, outside just the ones he had from home, he had roommates he liked well enough and he had his own team. It was safer here than in his own world and while he sometimes still looked over his shoulder out of habit, it was nice to not be hunted for once in his life.
Spotting Taisia Belikova on the path ahead of him, John jogged to catch up to her and grinned as he fell into step beside her. Tai was one of those new friends he’d made and he liked hanging out with her.
“Where are you going?” He asked. “I’ll walk with you if you want.”
Turning her head she smiled as John caught up to her, she'd heard the change in gait from someone behind her but wasn't worried. She had a messenger bag over her shoulders with a water bottle attached.
"I was going to head over to Atlantis Beach and get out of the city for a little while, maybe swim, maybe surf, maybe windsurf, or whatever else looks like fun." She smirked. She could go to the beach by the city but something about getting out sounded fun.
"Want to walk that far?" She asked almost as a challenge.
John pretended to think about it before grinning at her. “Sure, it sounds like fun,” he agreed. He didn’t have any real plans for his day, but getting out of the city sounded great.
Grinning she adjusted her bag she nodded. “So, find any trouble lately? Think your team is ready to go up against mine in a challenge?”
“I feel like I might be jinxing myself if I say my stay in Atlantis has been pretty uneventful so far,” he said, shaking his head at her first question, “and I am always ready for a challenge. The question is whether you’re ready to lose to mine?”
Raising an eyebrow she laughed. “You probably did just jinx it, if I end up turning into something weird tomorrow I’m blaming you.” She teased and laughed. “Ha! You think you stand a chance against us?”
“I know we do,” he said confidently, grinning over at her. “We still have to pick what we’re doing, though. Paintball? Laser tag? Triathlon?”
Taisa thought for a moment. “Triathlon, ending with laser tag.” She said thinking about it. “With tossed in other challenges, maybe get some of the witches and wizards to do a whole added thing.”
John grinned again. What she was suggesting sounded like a real challenge, but who didn’t like a good challenge? “I like the way you think, Belikova,” he said.
“Course you do, besides we have to find a way to make it interesting. A bet on who wins?” She suggested
“Depends on what you want to give up when my team beats yours,” he said, grinning. He might have been that confident or maybe he was just teasing. It was hard to say.
“What I want to give up? Please, you know it’ll be what you’re giving up when we win.” Laughing she shrugged with a smile. “But, for the sake of giving you a little hope, we’ll do whatever your team wants us to for 24 hours.”
“I suppose it’s only fair that I agree to the same,” he said, laughing at her confidence. “Don’t worry, I’ll try not to make it anything TOO embarrassing.”
“Ha.” Taisia shrugged. “We’ll see what sort of things I can come up with for you to do. I think I’ll have to start making a list now, so I’m prepared for it.” Grinning she nodded towards the beach as they got closer. “Race ya.” She didn’t wait for an answer as she just took off.
