Dealing with Kara leaving
Complete
|
Mon-El knew that there was no way that Kara would leave Atlantis, let alone leave without telling him or Alex. There was definitely something fishy going on. And, he didn’t like it. And, there was something niggling in the back of his mind about that. Even though the front of his mind, and his heart, just wanted him to get absolutely plastered. And, he was already halfway there, when he’d gotten Alex’s message about free drinks at Dive. And, misery loves company after all. Walking through the door, he immediately noticed Kara’s sister at the bar. And, slid into the barstool next to her. “Fancy meeting you here.” Alex was already into her second drink when Mon-El came in. There were times when she couldn’t figure out what Kara saw in him but she had grown to like him. The main thing was that Kara loved him and he returned her feelings. Right now he was hurting and Kara would want her to make sure he didn’t do anything stupid. “I know, right?” she said and took another sip. “Sara makes great drinks and they’re free so what’s not to love. Everyone should have a bartender for a friend.” “They really should.” He agreed, as he signaled to Sara that he was here, and asked for the strongest things they had. He needed more than the buzz that beer could give him. “How disappointed in me, do you think she’d be, that I’m planning on not being able to walk by the end of tonight?” Mon-El knew she’d be pretty disappointed in that. His drinking wasn’t exactly something she agreed with. But, he didn’t exactly know any other way to deal with pain. Actually feeling it was still a pretty new thing for him. And, a part of him missed being so drugged up, that he didn’t feel anything. But, he also would not give up having met Kara Zor-El for anything. “Well she’d be disappointed in both of us but I think under the circumstances, she might give us a pass,”Alex signed. “Unless of course she comes back tomorrow and finds us both hung over in which case we’d one of her famous disapproving looks and a speech to go with it. I wouldn’t mind that so much honestly if it meant having her back. “That would be the best case scenario, then.” Mon-El replied, knocking his drink back as soon as it arrived. He was pretty serious about not being able to walk out of the bar. And, didn’t hold out much hope for best case scenarios. What if she came back from this future where he was married to someone from the future, and was with someone else. Hell, what if he got his memory updated while she was gone, and then Imra turned up...and by Rau this sucked. “Ah yes, the speeches about how alcohol solves nothing. I miss it already.” “Yeah, me too. I just…..well, I just didn’t think she’d leave and I don’t believe she left of her own accord.” Alex knew that sometimes Atlantis took people without warning, not everyone chose to go home and we was willing to bet that Kara hadn’t had a choice. “But hey we’ve got free drinks and good company and even if alcohol solves nothing, it at least makes it hurt a little less for a while.” “No, she wouldn’t have.” Mon-El agreed, “And if she did, she wouldn’t have left without telling us.” He signalled Sara for another drink, nodding in agreement with everything Alex was saying. He knew that he would probably only do this. Drink himself to oblivion for this one night. Kara would want him to stay here, and help people. And, wherever, and whenever she came from would be fine with him. As long as he had her in his life again. Sure, a small part of him wanted to head home right now. But then, he also knew what happened if he did. He’d have to leave her, because of the lead poisoning. And, would end up in the future, and married to some other woman he hadn’t even met yet. Which he just couldn’t imagine in a million years. Damnit, this wasn’t helping. He needed a distraction. “I know what. Let’s dance.” He said, downing his second drink in one. “It might take our minds off of it.” |
