After mumbling something about walks and dogs, Becker hurried out of Octavia’s room and grabbed the leashes putting the wrong one on each dog before dragging them out so fast they barely had a moment to get their paws underneath them. Luckily Loufa and Buka were perfectly content going for a walk.
“Shit,” Becker muttered as they turned down their favorite path in Atlantis park, all around there was meat hanging to be dried for jerky. The dogs were bouncing up and down trying to drag him towards the piece hanging closest to him.
“No.” He commanded, getting the attention of a few people nearby, sheepishly he bent down and picked up the two dogs and turned on his heels. Marching away every single turn he took seemed to lead him to more meat hanging out. “Fucki--” He started when Loufa had enough and managed to wiggle away from him. The grip on the leash wasn’t as tight as it should have been as he balanced Buka in his other arm.
The little terror darted off jumping happily under the meat, luckily it was just out of her reach. “Come here…” He grumbled as he tripped over the same damn leash he was trying to get. Buka flew out of his arms landing comfortably on the grass, Becker’s landing wasn’s a smooth, landing directly on his left elbow he let out a curse before rolling onto his back.
He was off his game, he didn’t have game, but if he had any, he was off it. To his surprise, both dogs stopped trying to get to the meat and paddled quietly and carefully towards him as he looked up at the sight of a cow leg.
Sitting up he looked down at the dogs. “Well?” He asked them as they both sat down and gave him concerned looks. “What?” He asked as if the dogs were going to magically tell him what was on their minds.
“I don’t know,” he answered the question that was bugging him. He was a grown man sitting in the grass on a foggy day with two dogs looking at him after kissing his assistant/flatmate and running away. The dogs moved closer to him jumping into his lap as he took the opportunity to grab hold of their leashes.
Slowly he stood up and looked at his bleeding elbow. “Come on, better get this cleaned up.” He grumbled knowing if he wasn’t one of the idiots in charge he’d have left it. He headed towards the base his mind trying to block out any thoughts about what had happened and what he may or may not be feeling. Regardless of how hard he tried there was a part of him that couldn’t turn off some of his feelings.
