“Sorry!” Alicia said as she wrapped her arms around her boyfriend who she felt like she hadn’t seen for a few days. Alicia had taken up being there for Wanda ever since she got her new wave of memories. Alicia wanted to do everything she could for her friend. They’d been through so much together and this seemed to hit Wanda extremely hard.
“I wanted to come earlier but I got stopped to answer some questions about Wanda, she’s okay,” she added quickly. “Well, I guess as okay as she can be.” Alicia frowned. “How are you? With your ex-wife showing up? And Flint.” She rambled on. “I think we could use a break huh?” Sam was having quite a time of it. Alicia’s ex arriving wouldn’t have thrown him but for Alicia’s nervousness around it. And he was worried about Wanda too. He didn’t know her as well as Alicia did but he knew her well enough to be worried about her. Kara being here… “Kara will be fine.” he told her. “She’s gonna take some time to get used to how things are but her and me never would have worked long term and I think she knows that. I’d like to have a friendship with her eventually but if you think that’s weird or anything, it’s fine.” A break would be nice though. “This month seems...oddly quiet so, maybe we could get a weekend away, just you and me?” “It’s not weird, the friends thing, you have a past with her and it’s not like you just stop caring about someone because things didn’t work out or something, it’s just…” She paused. “I guess it’d be easier if….” Alicia didn’t even know what she was trying to say. “I don’t know, I just, Flint’s, well, I guess I’m jealous. I don’t think friendship is ever going to be on the table with my Ex.” The truth was that she and Marcus never really dealt with or recovered from everything that happened and seeing him again reminded her of all of that. “Yeah, just get away, go camping or something, off the grid,” smiling she really liked that idea. “But it has to wait until Wanda’s a little bit more stable.” Frowning slightly she shrugged. “Her memories from home… They’re terrifying.” “Sometimes friends is impossible. And honestly I don’t know what’ll happen with Kara, things were pretty weird near the end there, she found out I was a Cylon and she turned out to be some...messenger of god. So, friendship might take some time. Also if Flint doesn’t want your friendship then he’s an idiot who doesn’t deserve to have you in his life anyway.” Camping sounded good. Being away from everything for just a few days. It was quiet enough that they likely could take a few days leave. But Wanda needed her friend. “I know what it’s like...losing half the world. It happened so quickly for the colonies that it was random chance who survived. I survived cause my team were high altitude training when the bombs hit.” Though looking back that was unlikely to be random chance. God dammed Cavil. “Maybe I should talk to her? What do you think?” Alicia didn't fully believe in messengers from God, but she didn't say anything from it. "Have you talked to her much? Kara?" Alicia felt bad for not being there more for Sam, but everything happened all at once. "He doesn't even remember not hating me, so the likelihood he'll ever want to talk to me is pretty slim." Alicia nodded, she had no idea what it was like, and she didn't want to know. "You survived," she smiled softly. Surviving was sort of Alicia's focus lately. "I think that'd be good, but probably give her a few days. She'd started to see someone she had to kill to try and save the world and Thanos turned back time killing him all over again and dusting half the population in from what I could gather, the whole universe." She frowned. "Wanda's worried it'll happen here, and honestly, I can't blame him." “Not yet.” he admitted. “I’m letting her settle in and get used to you and me a little before I go and talk to her properly. Maybe if you give Flint time, he’ll change his tune.” It was a suggestion if nothing else. Alicia had a lot to deal with, and she needed to be there for Wanda, so worrying her was something he absolutely refused to do. “I’ll talk to her when she’s ready. Having to make that choice, kill someone for the sake of the world, someone she cared about, it’s gonna take a toll.” “Oh, I’m planning to stay far away from him.” She didn’t think he’d ever realize that Alicia wasn’t the enemy. That’d never happen. “You should talk to Kara, when you’re ready, when you think she’s ready.” She smiled softly. “Sometimes leaving things too long isn’t good for anyone either.” She nodded. “I can’t imagine, on top of knowing it didn’t work…” She let the words trail off. “I will. I promise. I’ll talk to her, she hasn’t been here that long just yet.” He couldn’t imagine that choice. Having to kill someone you loved for the sake of the universe. He didn’t know what he’d have done in the same situation. In truth, he didn’t think he could. Wanda was strong but she’d also feel incredibly guilty. “You let me know when you’re ready and we’ll take a couple of days. Just get out there on our own, y’know? It’ll be perfect, just what we both need.” Nodding, she couldn’t help but to be curious of how things with Kara would go for Sam, she wasn’t sure she really wanted to know all at the same time. “Hopefully really soon.” Alicia said kissing him for a second. “And I should get some change of clothing and grab some easy food.” She had somewhere she needed to be. “Go get changed, I’ll make you something quick.” he told her. |
