Keller watched as the gum changed hands. That was Iliana. People opened up to her, even if it was slowly, even if they didn't intend to, sometimes even if they didn't want to. She could respect not wanting to spill all her secrets to a couple of strangers.
"Junior field agent," Keller repeated. "That's what I do. I'm on Team 17. Have they assigned you or are you still floating? They like to see how we do on a mission first." That was what Keller had gathered, at least. She wasn't necessarily surprised to be assigned so soon, but she did have experience back home, and she'd been on the hostage rescue.
Even when looking at Erica, Keller kept Iliana in the corner of her vision and used her other senses to monitor for danger. Her best friend had been improving since being rescued from COS, but that didn't mean Keller would not be watchful of her.
"My specialty is combat," Keller added. "Yours?" Almost certainly the same, she guessed. Werewolves were natural fighters, and they had powerful instincts. That was why the Night World so often used them as grunts (that and other reasons) and why Circle Daybreak made field agents of them.
