Upon hearing about Anne losing her shoe from her foot being stuck in a burrow, Frederick's thoughts had gone back to her walking companions. Those who were already back at the hotel. Henrietta and Louisa had been worried about where Anne had gone off to, but Mary was dismissive, and Charles unconcerned. Between the four of them, none had been concerned enough to actually remember where they has lost Anne. Those were Frederick's own words of course. So many people neglected Anne, and Frederick didn't know what he could actually do about it, as it wasn't his place. At the very least, he could get her back to find more shoes.
At least someone had come to her rescue even if it was a stranger. Maybe Frederick would try to retrace her steps and recover her shoe. "You'll have to be more careful next time," Frederick offered but he didn't really think it was Anne's fault. "I was on my way to visit the Harvilles, but they'll understand if I'm late."
