"Hello Pilot," Jane said affectionately as she reached to scratch behind the dogs ears. Once the faithful companion of her Master was satisfied by the greeting, he settled curled up at her feet so he could be near her and warm by the fire.
She looked at Mr. Rochester at his question. "I am not accustomed to it," Jane admitted freely. "Perhaps my pupils at Lowood miss me, but I will likely never return to them to know," Jane said with great hope that it wouldn't be necessary for her to return. "The only other place I have lived is Gateshead. The Reeds were quite changed, but I doubt it was due to my absence," Jane admitted but was not as eager to speak much more of her visit. She also doubted her cousins would think of her again. But, Jane smiled as even Mr. Rochester acknowledged the warm greeting from all. "I am happy to be back and to be welcomed back."
