Jack had been thoroughly ready to get out of that room. As a whole the man had been through quite a lot in the following weeks. Had it been weeks? Damn if he wasn't even sure. Seemed slowly brought away from his old path, the Captain's determination to just ignore the world and the mysteries and everything in it to let someone else deal with it. Now thanks to the Doctor of all people, here he was trying to get a real hold of what was going on. The events leading up to meeting Rose and the Doctor, even...though less he admit it in that painful clarity; Ianto, striving him now to be far more persistent even while with the two first mentioned somehow seeming more tired.
Not today though. And not here and now. All of that buried so far down behind his usual charm and good-wit humor, the man like he always did so long ago appearing much more friendly and charming as it always seemed to be with one Jack Harkness. He had too many layers and too much past not to have these small moments in which he really could pull up that charm with such ease, really. Not so shocking. It was Jack and if there wasn't something he was good at it was making new friends. Now sitting at that same restaurant not too far from his building waiting on a newer arrival.
Finding that what really caught him about her was that she was a traveler. Like him, well, like him now...with a ship--not from earth. And then that big something about her that he couldn't help being drawn towards... The man couldn't place just what that something was, but still the personality and words had him finding himself taken from his pursuit in helping the Doctor discover what was going on (and finding the TARDIS) to be more than up for the task of showing her around. A good distraction at least...he'd needed a lot of those recently. Distractions. Pushing off once more thoughts of the complicated important things that really mattered to the man.
After all those complicated important things were the very same that Jack Harkness needed to push away and what better way than this?
