"Oh, they won't be bringing me in here without a fight," Hatter replied, trying to laugh. In some ways, he did long for adventure. Things were way too quiet in this place. Other than the occasional incident. Like turning into a freaking woman. But other than that? He was used to action and excitement and running and fighting. And here? None of that. But he also knew he had to put Alice first and he frankly hoped they'd be walking out there into a pile of nothing until they found a place to stay and settle.
Of course, there was always the chance that if something major did happen, they'd be much too far away for it to matter. By the time they got help, it could be too late. For a brief moment, he was considering changing his mind. But there was so much riding on this. "It'll take a few days of planning," he admitted. "Picking the right time to leave, the right spot to leave from, the works. If they don't know we're gone, they might not know to come looking." He took a deep breath, then shot Simon a determined look. "But we'll figure it out."
