Simon was actually rather adept with a scalpel and a syringe. Not that he looked to be ready to use either against Mr. Hatter. No, he seemed rather comfortable leading the fellow over to the waiting knapsack that would serve as the first aid "box." He'd scrounged it from who knew where; Serenity had certainly prepared him to be resourceful.
He pulled the bag over and pointed at the contents. "Gloves. Bandages - adhesive and wrap. Pain medication - aspirin and ibuprofen, nothing stronger." The two medications were wrapped differently and marked, possibly not clearly but marked all the same. "Be careful giving aspirin."
The doctor nudged somethings around. "Antibiotic ointment. It will work on most cuts, scraps, and burns. It's not meant for prolonged use. Do you have a knife?" He pulled out a small bottle. "Rubbing alcohol. Limit to cleaning tools and wounds."
He looked at the kit then at the would-be savior/explorer/hero. "Anything else you can think of? Oh." He walked away before returning with a small case of dental floss. "It's a sturdier brand, so it's multipurpose. If you've got a sewing kit, take it."
It wasn't that Simon was Mr. Adventurer Extraordinaire, but his time on Serenity had taught him to think outside the box, even with a semi-equipped medbay. He'd looked through the stock in the infirmary, and what he gave Hatter seemed to address issues that might arise, somewhat anyway.
